With realities such as this and the evident rise of the Mara Salvatrucha (it is assumed that the MS-13 would eventually be the largest organised gang in the world soon), what do you think about gang violence?
Do you think something can be done to reduce it? Is it increasing where you live? Do you even notice it?

Gang violence is definitely growing at a disturbing rate, and I think it's unfortunate that society has to adapt and accommodate for it. Besides all the crime, murders, etc. it's the fact that we have to now grow up and worry about it, and heaven knows what our children will have to go through.

One infamous example is the Crips and Bloods - they associate with the colors blue and red, respectively. And you can't wear, for example, any form of red in an area with the Crips, or vice versa, because it's perhaps the worst decision you'll have ever made.

Unfortunately, I don't think much can be done about gangs because they seem to occur in areas with low economic growth and poor education, etc., and as long as these areas exist in society today, they won't be going away any time soon.

Seems to happen more often in my area, which is a little random because I live in a fairly nice suburb. Not the streets or anything.

I can't really comment seeing as my surburb and the one's close by are quite nice places.

Worryingly there are more incidents now where people have been killed by gangs. It makes me feel weird when there have been people younger than me involved with gangs.

Kids at my school aren't allowed to wear hats (or 'do-rags') or any gang colors. In fact, if anyone expresses any gang-type behavior, they get arrested.

So yeah, I haven't had many encounters with gangs...

My local high school. There are quite a lot of 'gangsta' type black people that attend. If we didn't have security guards patrolling the school, I bet a lot of fights would break out.

What irritates me is that so many black people act all 'gangsta' and stereotype their race. It becomes so hard to find the good black people. Thankfully, I know two who are really cool. I wish all those 'gangsta' blacks could follow their example...

It saddens me how so many blacks act stupid on purpose. I know they can be smart and responsible, but it's like they try not to.

Theirs this town called Salinas. People get shot there ALL the time. Oddly, its only 15 minuets from were my town is, yet we hardly get that over here.

Well, yes DS. I have friends and family in the police force, so I'm not trying to say all police are bad. Actually, far from it.

What I'm suggesting is that, police officers usually get away with many crimes even if it was unjustified. For example, regionally about two months ago, in Jamaica a police officer killed a man because he was running away.
Also, recently in USA this occured.. Do you think these killings were justified? I really don't think...

Nah, I've never done any kind of drug, not even weed. I've never even smoked one cigarette in my whole life, even though most of my friends smoke. I've got asthma, so it would be pretty hazardous for my health.
