The gameplay. Think assassins creed crossed with Oblivion. It has the RPG element of exploring and talking to people, while Creed style views. The combat I dont know.
I cba to write more. Discuss and whatnot.

I want this game... it's funny, I went from having maybe 2 games I wanted this season to 5 or so. WHY ARE VIDEO GAMES SO EXPENSIVE. I remember when I could buy a half decent PC game for 30 dollars...

(frontal female nudity, it's not pornographic but you've been warned.) http://bp2.blogger.com/_WNcLmI1D03s/Rze9TM...00-h/morren.jpg
^ The UK version is uncensored, so THAT is the game you're buying, Caael.
I hear the dialogue is cut though, but I'll just mod that back in. The rest, I don't mind. I'll leave that untouched.

If a demo is released after the game is released, it usually means that the game isn't selling as well as devs wanted it to. Which is a shame, because from what I can tell from the demo the game is good and only gets better. It just goes to show you that true CRPGs are a dying breed. More people are into the extreme action-y games these days.
Apparently The Witcher is based off of a series of books of the same name. http://en.wikipedia....iki/The_Witcher

Muahaha, I've got 2 out of the 4 from the list.
The game sounds and looks cool. About the boobs in it. To me, it doesn't matter if the female characters are wearing nothing, brahs, undershirts etc. as long as it's an under clothing. (So no chainmail suits as no clothing outfit)

It'd be even better if it didn't crash randomly. It doesn't do it so much that it breaks the experience, but it does it enough to be annoying.

Is that guy your god or something? It seriously sounded like that guy doesn't understand the genre or something and it was his first time playing a CRPG. There are literally hundreds of games out there that have a click-interface and they all sell well. As for harvesting skulls/whatever off of enemies, it makes a lot more sense than magically knowing how to take them without any knowledge of that monster before hand *cough* Elder Scrolls. I don't remember the rest of what he said thanks to the British humour bits.

i dont see any parts of that review "only a british person would get", just seems like an excuse to me
I'd rather have someone say what's wrong with a game so i can decide if i'd be willing to put with its flaws rather than the arse licking bull**** that makes up most reviews thesedays (see Nosferatu's Assassin's Creed review)

In a nutshell there's basically two major gameplay mechanics in The Witcher. Combat and Alchemy.
Combat works like this: A Witcher uses two main weapons, a steel sword and a silver sword. You can carry two other weapons besides those, but you'll use your swords most of the time. Steel sword is more effective for fighting humans and animals while the silver sword is more effective on monsters. If you're not sure what sword to use in certain situations, think of it this way: Steel sword on normal-looking enemies like people and wolves, silver sword on icky/scary looking monsters like vampires and ghouls.
While you're using your Witcher's swords there are three different stances you can use. There's the Strong Stance which is effective against the well-defended foe, the Speed Stance which is good for hitting those that are more agile, and Group Stance which is self-explanatory, it's slower and not as strong as the other stances but it's the only way to go when you're surrounded. You click on enemies to attack them. Combat works in sequences of attacks; you can chain your attacks by clicking on an enemy again with the right timing. On easy and medium you'll know when you have to click again because the mouse will turn into a flaming sword. On hard you'll have to watch Geralt's sword; it will show an orange streak as he swings it through the air when it's time to click again.
My complaint about the combat is that it would've been nice if you could chain your stance attacks together, like switching to Speed Stance in the middle of a Strong Stance attack sequence; switching to a different stance in mid-attack will result in Geralt stopping his attacks and waiting to begin a new attack sequence. It's a minor annoyance in larger fights.
Alchemy works like this: Ingredients you harvest from monsters and plants contain alchemic substances that can be used to brew potions. You can brew potions while you meditate. (The Witcher's form of resting. You can do it at campfires or inns) Before you can brew potions you need a potion base, which many times can be the alcohol that you pick up though not all potions can be made from an alcoholic base. Some need to be from a dedicated potion base which is a fairly simple potion to make. You'll need to know the potion's formula before you can make it. Some NPCs will give them to you for free if it's quest related though many can be learned from reading books.
When you brew potions, the name of your known formulas will be shown at the left of the screen, your inventory at the right, and your work station is in the middle. If you have enough ingredients to make a potion it's name will be highlighted and you can click said name of the potion to make it. If you want to, you can just drag bases and ingredients/substances into your work station in the middle to make a potion. It's easier to just click the name of the potion, but you can make some interesting potions by experimenting this way. ;) Just be careful because experimenting like this can make some dangerous poisons, and you won't know the effect of the potion until you drink it...
I guess The Witcher would be a little overwhelming if you hadn't played a CRPG before. But if you don't like a genre or don't understand it, you shouldn't review it. I didn't like his
No, not everyone will like The Witcher. It's a bit male-centered and if you don't like lots of dialogue you'll probably get bored. (Act 2 has a lot of talking) I like the dialogue in The Witcher, though some times it seems poorly dubbed, I like the amount of options you have to say. You really feel involved in the story.

Nice. Hope that these updates are all that they're cracked up to be, and boosts sales. It's nice that there is a game studio who actually responds to criticism and strives to make the product better, for once!
Bethesda should take note. :(
