AoEII/III and Warcraft 3 are my favourite strategy games.
Also try Rise of Nation, Company of Heroes and Command and Conquer. I loved them all.

Except Advance Wars isn't computers.

Company of Heroes is probably the best RTS to date, or at least it's certainly different than what's been seen before.

Don't believe the hype behind World in Conflict. It's basically a dumbed down version of all the previous RTS done.

Yeah.

I bought Company of Heroes for my dad. I played it too. It doesn't seem lioke the kind of game I would enjoy though. Too many resource factors.

Total Annihilation rocked socks as well.

Command and Conquer: Tiberium Wars, is the only RTS I play on the pc at the moment.

That's not legally a PC game. And it was designed for the GBA, not the PC.

Yeah, but strategy is too vague. That could be basicly anything, a shooter requires a certain strategy, idem dito for other games.
