I think my least favorite game I've played lately would actually be Super Mario Galaxy. XD And I liked Super Mario Galaxy a lot. It just somehow seemed unspectacular compared to all the reviews and hype it got. And I wasn't even THAT excited to get it Christmas day.

Blah blah blah.
I don't know if this counts, but my younger brother had me try out MapleStory when I was back at home during break. Not a bad game by any chance, but I just couldn't get into it. I enjoy the RPG elements, but preferably console-type story-driven ones.

I disliked CoD 3 on the Wii with great intensity. I'm a little dissapointed with NFS:Pro Street, but after I saw my friend get a ways into LoZ:TP, I've decided it's better than what I thought. But, I still like WW more. Seriously though. But don't shoot me for saying it. D:

This isn't my 'failure game', but yesterday me, and a friend of mines were arguing about FF12. I thought it was great, my friend thought it sucked. He thought the changes made (the kinda MMORPG elements) were terrible, while I thought they were great. It came to the point where he gave another friend of mines the game to pick a side. So far he is liking it ^^.

BLASPHEMY!
Superman 64. What a piece of crap. The mechanics don't even work. If you want to pick up something, you start flailing your arms around hopelessly until someone beats the crap out of you.

Don't kill me but I wasn't a great fan of FFXII either.
It's by no means an awful game but there were some weak things with it. Like I believed that the exp should have been shared amongst the characters, rather than just with the ones you were using. I also wasn't a huge fan of the battle system changes, though I don't hold the view that it ruined the game. It just felt too different for me personally.
It's certainly not the worst FF game I've played. That honour goes to FFII.

And it is true that most people like the game. There are a few (like you and Caael) who aren't incredibly enthusiastic about it, but there aren't a whole lot.
However, I'm curious. How many stars did eother of you get before you decided that it wasn't all it was cracked up to be?

You are of course entitled to your opinion, but there are times when you seem to be bordering on "telling" and insisting on it as though it were fact. That's the implication I've been getting. I won't deny that I do find it a bit personal, considering SMG is one of my favorite games now and it was, for me, a fantastic gaming experience that has really reminded me of just how fun and engaging games can be. So to see you constantly insisting that the game is "underwhelming" is frustrating on both a gamer's level and on a personal level.

Animal Crossing is poor in my eyes. It's literally:
1.) Arrive in town.
2.) Buy house.
3.) Do mind numbingly dull jobs for racoon pimp and other bizarre creatures.
Seriously every job is 'Hi there! I left my (insert random item) at (insert bizarre animal)'s house. Can you go and get it? I'll give you this footstool!'

I like how you failed to address the rest of my post when responding.
"Easy and short" does not prevent the game from being what Anouma intended it to be - something that challenged the conventions of Zelda. I'm not asking you to look at the obvious shortcomings, look at what it achieves. You see that Cel-Shaded style that you (and others) complain about? Did you happen to know that it's actually a remarkably difficult graphics style to pull off, that it pushes hardware far more than the typical, polygonal realistic look? It's fluid, animations are smooth, and more importantly it was a much-needed change to the same overused style - not to mention that using the Cel-Shaded engine also allowed for far more creativity in the art style, and characters were able to convey more emotion than ever.
Now, you bring up the point of ocean exploration being a hassle at times. That's true to some extent, but again, it's different and this was Wind Waker's theme. And also, using the Wind Waker baton got repetitive? I could argue the same for the Ocarina (though admittedly the Ocarina of Time had more songs to choose from), and it was still a creative twist on gameplay.
And of course, you seem to be forgetting one thing - the storyline. Wind Waker had one of the most engrossing plotlines of any of the Zelda games, and I will absolutely pit it against the likes of even Twilight Princess at another time.
All in all, my point now is that Wind Waker is too underappreciated and not understood enough that it presented such a new dynamic, whether in the graphics style or otherwise. Failing to see what it brought is terrible hindsight as a gamer, and really is insulting to one of the finest examples of a gaming work of pure artistic genius.

Amen to that. Terrible game.
GL, you can say all you want about "intentions" but at the end of the day, Wind Waker was still sub-par for a Zelda game, to me and many other gamers. I'll go back to the sailing bit because that was a core gameplay element to the game. You look at your map and where you want to go, point your boat towards it, change the direction of the wind, and watch your boat go there. This is the biggest reason Wind Waker sucked, because this is attached to finding Heart Pieces, going to dungeons, finding the Triforce Charts and Triforce Fragments. Was that supposed to be fun? Because it just wasn't, and games are supposed to be FUN.
If the dungeons and islands themselves were interesting, I would've overlooked the sailing bit. But they weren't. I barely remember any of the puzzles from the dungeons because they weren't very interesting, besides the one where you had to change the mirror columns. That dungeon was actually pretty cool. Islands rarely had anything very interesting on them that I remember, but then I probably missed some parts and the reason why is because I didn't want to sail there because the sailing was boring. (see the theme here?) As for an interesting storyline, you can argue that I guess, but I sure don't buy Zelda for the story. I buy them for the dungeons and puzzles.
When I picked up the Wind Waker from a friend I told myself I'd like it, and I wanted to like it, too. But I ended the game hating it. The one thing I did like about Wind Waker was the fighting, and it was fun to fight huge swarms of enemies. This was done better in TP with the inclusion of hidden moves.
So I'll sum it up like this: Sailing in WW was terrible. You were encouraged to explore but it wasn't fun. I sure didn't feel like exploring in WW, and I love exploring in games! The dungeons weren't interesting either. The graphics were cute yes, and the characters are some of the best-looking in games, but other times the graphics are too simple and uninteresting to look at. But it would seem you're set on loving WW, which is fine, but these are the reasons I didn't like it and many other gamers didn't like it.

Fair enough, I think we've made both our points clear. However, this is also coming from someone who claims that Super Mario Galaxy was underwhelming when nearly every other gamer universally praises it.

The Triforce charts were indeed the lowest point of WW, but that's it. Funny that you mention it actually, because that quest was never supposed to be there - the Zelda team was rushed to bring out WW. So they had to insert a simple Triforce search, as well as "demoting" two other dungeons - it's been a while since I've played Wind Waker, but remember

As for SMG it was an amazing game but it just cannot compare to SM64 or even Sunshine, due to one main reason: its to short! And that goes for each Galaxy as well. The game feels more like Super Mario bros than Super Mario, if you know what I mean.

What COD4 definitely did have going for it were some frantic and fast paced fire fights, though I found that most of the game could be beaten by popping out to make a few shots then ducking behind cover again. Until the grenades start popping out of the sky at least...
Not much of an online multiplayer FPS boy so I can't talk about that part.
