He's actually the longest serving President ever.

Anyway, I'm really happy he is stepping down. I really dislike communism. I honestly hope there will be a transition to a pro-"European" democracy (note European!), since the Caribbean is emulating the European Union. I honestly believe with Cuba, we will acheive great things <3. Most likely they will emulate a China-style economy though.

In any case, let us not forget Fidel has done great things to Cuba while being totally isolated from the outside world. This is a feat once thought impossible, and is a total embarrassment to the US, who thought the world revolved around them. Also, let us not forget Batista! He was ruthless, and he allowed Cuba to be a gambling center, and allowed US citizens to visit Cuba for prostitution. Fidel stood up and stopped it.

Though, the presidency will be passed onto his brother, and though there is a slight chance of an end to communism, it is highly unlikely. But we can pray!

Fidel Castro was my hero. We did model UN one year and the only point the Cuba group ever made was raising his picture (which was framed on their desk for some reason) and saying "hail castro"

it was epic. And for a dictator he seemed pretty nice.

The world does revolve around the wealthiest nation in the world.lol but seriously Every nation wants to have their hand in the U.S. economy somehow.

            anyway back on topic.

I think that Cuba will remain communist no matter what happens, unless there is some great revolution, which I highly doubt there will be.

yeah but I will keep my opinions on why to myself. Maybe I will make a topic on it later.

EDIT: Never mind I did make a topic on it.

America does not think that everything revolves around them. However, if Russia ever becomes the workd power, you'll think the same about Russia. Only it'll be ten times worse.

I'm glad Fidel Castro is stepping down. It's about frikkin' time. Unfortunately, his brother will likely be the same, or worse. And mirroring China's economy isn't a good thing.

Hopefully there'll be a revolution or something to take control of the government and change it into a democracy instead of a dictatorship or communism.

I don't think there will be a revolution though. I think the Cuban government has to strong of a hold over Cuba.

What legacy will Fidel leave when he dies? Personally, anyone who supports communism/dictatorship leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but I honestly cannot ignore the great things he has done for Cuba and the Caribbean, and also the challenges he successfully faced. He's gonna be legendary of course, but how do you think the world will view him in the next 100 years?

I think it just depends on the country and the person. For example, it is very obvious that the U.S. will always view him in a negative light.
