Well, Disgaea fans will be happy to know that the latest issue of Famitsu has a nice little tidbit of information within the confines of its pages. A new Disgaea title has been confirmed to be in the works for the DS, adding another installment in the franchise that fans are pretty much sure to love. Looks like they finally got around to checking out those poll results.

Rough translation (courtesy of GAFfer Tenbatsu) shows the game to be called Disgaea: Prince of the Demon World and the Red Moon. So based on that, we can predict the game will have some kind of demon world that plays an important role in the events of the game, as well as a prince and some kind of red moon. What can we say? We're gaming journalists. It's what we do.

Aside from that, there isn't any more information to go on. If we hear anything else, though, we'll be sure to let you all know. In the meantime, crack open that bottle of champagne and get to celebrating!

Apparently, we are getting the RPG-that-breaks-oh-so-many-barriers on the DS. It's about fucking time.

Personally gave up on the DS. No intentions to buy anymore DS games, unless it's FE or GS I guess.

Anyway, I heard good stuff about Disgaea. Hope it's cool.

        old news.

its pretty much a direct port of the PS2 original.

which'd be great if i didnt already have the original or the PSP port already.

        ****ing sellouts

I don't see why this is bad. I heard this game was great, and I missed it on the PSP. Can't find it anywhere.

for the majority of gamers it is indeed great news

however if you're like myself and member of the very small core fanbase who helped get the company wherethey are, its a fucking disgrace to see them remake the game again and again to the point where they do this over work on new original titles.

It's economically smart though. Appealing to the masses is going to make more money than a smaller focus for current fans.

doesnt stop it being a complete betrayal of the original fans trust.

To be honest, almost any business will take profit over fans trust. That's why Square Enix do so many remakes of the FF games.

the main reason SQEX sold out was to recoup losses for that ****ty Spirits Within film.

Imagine if Nintendo held off work on original new titles and instead made more Mario, Zelda and Metroid games, oh...wait....

So making a new game to the franchise every 3 years is bad...?

                      Erm...was Disgaea a good game?

its bad when that times filled releasing spinoffs and remakes

yes Disgaea is very good, quite easily the best SRPG imo

Yes. But it doesn't always have to be the ussual, "random characters except for a few key ones", some have jsut 5-10 "troops" that you use.
