Announced in a press statement earlier today, Nintendo introduces the MotionPlus Accessory. It plugs into the bottom slot on the Wii remote, and allows for far greater motion capabilities.
The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player's arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play.

Stuff like this REALLY should have been featured to begin with. This, and the wireless Nunchuk. (which hasn't been officially confirmed, but is most likely coming)

Off topic, but the Wireless Nunchuk is probably coming, since Nintendo sued a 3rd party company that made one lol.

Ahahah, see, this is why 3rd party developers sort of avoid Nintendo. XD
It's not as bad as Sony releasing Dual Shock 3, what, a year after PS3 was released, I'll admit.

I don't see a Nunchuk input though...
look again. Neither did I at first but there seems to be a cover on the base for where one might be able to connect.
Also yes, this really should have been in the original Wii. I really hate how Nintendo insist on milking our wallets with important peripherals.
This one is actually good though. In their defense, they might not have perfected it back when the wii was first released, since it seems an odd feature to purposely omit from the Wii when it could have launched the console so much further ahead than it is.

Reminds me a bit of PC gaming to be honest; it gradually gets better and better, but you have to buy and upgrade more stuff at the same time. :D

Still, it's promising and I'm really curious to see tomorrow how Nintendo will supplement it. Perhaps it'll be a pack-in with another game?

Blame Immersion for pulling them into a legal battle.
It sounds like some sort of refinement of the Power Glove, though unless they include finger tracking I don't see how this is much different to the standard controller. Last time I checked, The Wiimote could already detect arm and wrist movements. :/

It'd also be nice if the pack included some sort of stableizer. Not like physical, but virtual. The pointer on screen is always jittery because a human arm can't physically hold it perfectly steady. Some sort of normalizer algorithm to get rid of the jitteryness would be nice. It'd be great if it was built into the hardware rather than weaved into the sftware of games, because then there's less stress on the CPU.
But enough blabber about tech stuff that none of you will read.
I'll buy this if it proves to be useful, and doesn't break my wallet.

Mii Channel for example, is horrible. Even if I'm using someone else's Wii in their house with the couch at a different distance and angle, etc., the cursor moves alllll over the place. But in Mario Galaxy or in Twilight Princess it feels perfect.
You could be right about CPU stress I guess, but it should be up to the software you're using not the Wiimote itself to stabilize.

Nintendo release an incomplete console and release pieces of it every few months
Microsoft release a faulty console and make no real effort to rectify their blatant violation of trading standards
Sony release a fully working console, then drop it and release a crippled version with most of the features removed instead.
what a wonderful gaming era this is :/

I also thought sword dueling looked cool...
I'm not gonna get it though, unless you need it for a game that actually matters.

Skip to 1:50 and watch the rest. Shows awesome stuff with 1:1 sword mechanics.
