Playstation 3 or Xbox 360? If you had to choose.

At this stage I want to buy a PS3 or 360 after I finish school ((October) so it won't be a distraction) Pretty much I want just a powerful system with great graphics and everything that Nintendo can't give in the Wii. Below I'll put my feelings on each system, and if you could put forward your point of view, great. Feel free to debate as well, this topic may as well serve a purpose later on.
Ps3
Not sure which model I would look at since I don't need backwards compatability as I'll keep my Ps2. I'm a sony fan, I loved my Ps2, best system made so far IMO. The Ps3 has better technology so it should keep longer and have better graphics. It also has it's exclusives and I'm hoping for sequels to games on the Ps2 (Ie, KH3) it also's going to recieve 2 FFXIII games.
Blu-ray is not a selling point for me.
360
It has the better online system out of the two. It has some hard hitting games. It also is getting a FF title. It has some strong exclusives and backwards compatability with Xbox titles (a plus since I never owned a Xbox)
Can link to a computer and be a media player.
I would be able to play my mates with a 360.
Bit of a downside is the time that the 360 has already been out, meaning it could be outdated sooner rather then later.
Edit- Xbox released 2002, 360 in 2005
Ps2 released in 2000, Ps3 in 2006
Bit of a blank right now so that's all I could think of.
The money isn't really that much of a dealbreaker, as I'm looking at either a Pro or Elite 360, or a 20-40gb Ps3. And there isn't much between them.
Edit- I thought a put in a poll. Mod's wanna give that a shot for me.

The 360 has many games and many future releases. The stereotype is the Xbox is all about shooters. That isn't true anymore. The 360, sort of ironically, has the most JRPGs to this date, and a lot of other games too. The 360 has been out the longest, so you also have a lot of good, old 360 games to choose from for cheap at a used game store, too.
The PS3 has some decent games around but not a lot to brag about. Let's see... good PS3 you can buy right now that are exclusive. Uncharted, Heavenly Sword... well, those are the games I bought for it.
Just get a 360.

360 is better provided you can get one that works, as WD states the 360 has quality games NOW whilst the PS3 is still dependant on future titles over a year after its release. Sony has lost exclusivity to the majority of its big series and the 360 is considerably cheaper.

Then again, there'd be no whacking install time just because you want to play a different level...

It's nice that you feel fine about spending big money for only one game.
@watch: Personally, I wouldn't think twice on what I would get. The PS3 can't hold a candle to the 360 and it never will be able to.

I've played both plenty and the 360 is just so much more fun.

The new 360's hardware produces less heat, and so RROD is much less likely to occur. Another future update to the hardware will reduce heat even more, but I think that's a year off or something.
360 has more games worth mentioning than the PS3 at the moment, and since FFXIII isn't exclusive anymore, there's not much of a reason to buy a PS3 unless you want something that can play Blu-ray discs, and has the potential to produce better graphics than the 360. Also, a lot of the (supposedly) good games for it have yet to come out.
But I think I'll agree with WD on this one. 360= right now (plus, if you have friends with 360's, online is great), PS3= probably in the future, maybe even long term.
For me though, it boils down to the games, and not the consoles themselves. So go with whichever one has more games you're interested in.

So Microsoft shouldn't be kicking themselves for losing Bioshock, Gears of War, Orange Box, Oblivion, COD4 and countless other Windows and 360 games to Sony?

The fact that Sony lost FFXIII almost negates all that. And wasn't Orangebox multiplatform to begin with? PC doesn't really count when it comes to this, because MS doesn't sell the computers. They sell the OS. Besides, computers are in a different market than consoles.

As I don't have either console, my opinion is limited. I will simply say that the 360 has a far more robust library, while the PS3 is technologically superior and will last for years to come. Just my two cents.

Lmao that would be awesome if they did actually start a war. It would be like i Robot where the consoles are actually robots and have some nang fight scene.

I make that 8, 11 if you count the Orange box 4 times (not portal, not a shooter)

Lol at trading a 360 in just for the PS3 and MGS4. Now, MGS4's a good game, one of my favorites for sure, but it's a far cry from being THAT good and I don't think it quite lived up to all the hype.
VC isn't backwards compatibility per se. You can't play your old games on it. You have to buy them new. :)

The Ps3 looks like it still has some time before it's decent, while the 360 just looks appealing now. Shame I have to wait for the end of school now.
