Processor:
Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory:
2046MB RAM
Hard Drive:
74 GB
Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT
New video card is all I need, but my compy can handle Crysis at (usually) 15 or so FPS, so I think I'm fine for this year. I've had this set up for more than a year, yet I don't see the need to upgrade in the near future. Kind of goes against the stereotypes of PC gaming but oh well.

Anyway,
CPU
Intel Pentium 4 HT Edition model 631 @ 3.0GHz. One core, two threads. 2MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB
Overclocked to 3.6GHz w/940MHz FSB
RAM
2GB G.Skill DDR2 800, CAS Latency: 5-5-5-15
Hard Drive
2x Western Digital 80GB SATA Caviar, 1x Seagate 250GB IDE Barracuda. All drives run at 7200RPM
GPU
XFX GeForce 8600GT 256MB XXX edition. Core @ 620MHz, Memory @ 800MHz
Motherboard
Gigabyte EP35-DS3R, Intel P35 chipset
Hoping to get my hands on a Pentium E2180 though. It'll be nice to have a real dual core rather than a virtual one.

Memory: 248MB RAM
Processor: Intel Pentium III, 697MHz
Hard Drive: 9.40GB
Screen Resolution: 1024 X 768 - 32 bit
Laptop, runs just fast enough to do everything I want. About the most impressive thing I can get out of it is SimCity 3000. :(

The old ME install was almost impossible to use. It kept freezing up every ten minutes which could only be fixed by killing Explorer, and even that didn't relaunch half the time. XP does everything literally ten times faster, plus it's compatible with a lot more apps.

How much did it set you back?
This cost me £489, kinda proves its cheaper to build it yourself (I did get lucky) I buy my parts from overclockers.co.uk, they usually have 'special offers' got lucky with CPU and harddrive (which is still on special offer xD).

AMD is the way!

I'd cry if you stole it xD

Though I'm really happy ATi's back in the game. Nvidia was getting to comfortable.

So far I've only seen them releasing new versions of Phenom with a higher clocking speed and performance rate, so errm wheres the 45nm versions? Whoa what are these new intel chips capable of doing, I haven't found any info on them? I haven't found any info on these but yeah AMD are in a heat of trouble if nothing is done :S
EDIT: OH shi- eight-core chips, Nehalemis gonna be a 8 core chip! AND the first one thats gonna be shipped in fall is a quad core for servers? Okay iv gotta get saving!

The Octal core is for servers only (at least for now). The enthusiast chips will be released first, and I believe that only includes quad-cores and not the hexa core (which will come after the 32nm shrink).
But seeing as they'll all be designed on the 45nm process, and later shrinked to 32nm, they'll be offering a crapload of transistors with (more than likely) minimal heat gain.
But Intel is also going to be integrating a memory controller into most of the chips (like AMD is already doing) along with introducing "Quick Path" (similar to AMD's "Hyper Transport")
Early benchmarks on just the chip Intel gave out to mobo manufacturers for testing shows that this new archiecture mops the floor with the Core 2 archiecture.
More here
[EDIT] And this is what will be popping up in the market only two years now.
Come to think of it, that's also when Windows 7 is slated to be released around then. 2010's shaping to be a pretty awesome year imo. At least for people with cash. XD
[EDIT 2] This is what's supposed to be comming out this fall. Why spend $1500 on a QX9775 now when you can spend $999 on a Core i7 900 Extreme Edition this fall? (though to be fair, it's probably going to be upwards of $1000 upon it's initial release)

What motherboard is it using?

Preferably a dual core, recommend me products. I have a budget of about £70-£80 though so if there's not any in that range, i'll have to rethink my plan.

Well first off, what do you currently have? And what motherboard are you using? The northbridge chipset will determine what you'll be able to put in there.
Anywyay, this one usually goes for around $70 to $85, this one is a little faster an usually $10 more, and this one will push your budget a bit, but it's a really good 45nm CPU. Well worth the $120.
