How modern gaming has made us into wimpy gamers.

All too true. Also, I'd like to point out how most of these fall under FPS.

I usually enjoy difficult games more than the easy ones. However, people these days don't want a game that's challenging. Or one that's funwhile we're at it, it just needs realistic graphics and good marketing and it's an instant seller...
Before playing Radiant Dawn, I saw that each and every reviewer said that the game is TOO difficult, and kept complaining about it. But actually, it's easy as ****. I was disappointed with the difficulty.
I wish games would always be as hard as F-Zero GX and Echoes. Those were two amazing games, among me very favourites, and their difficulty was one of the reasons I was so drawn into them.

I hate playing easy bits before hard bits. Just give me the easy ones.

Sounds like Kaizo.
Saves are fine. Everything else is stupid. And they forgot fast travel.

Neither of them were hard but I thought PoR was harder than Radiant Dawn.

Reminds me of Slippery Climb from Crash Bandicoot. You had to backtrack through the levels just to stockpile enough lives for an attempt. I died like forty times in the space of an hour trying to reach that checkpoint. :/
But at least it was FUN.

Easy games are boring, but hard games are frustrating. I like a game where it's difficult, but not impossible. Two or three attmepts to pass a level wouldn't be too much to ask. 40 is overkill though.
I thought RD was harder than PoR (PoR was actually fairly easy, save for a few parts), but it wasn't too hard either. It remains as the only Wii game I own thus far which I think about finishing.
Though some of the first few chapters in RD were brutal for being so early on in the game.
Anyway, the article speaks the truth.
