"after spending 8 years in rapture, everybody went insane. With Tenenbaum being down there all that time, you'd have thought she'd have lost her marbles too so maybe she's suited up and is out to track down her lost children"

Playing as a prototype Big Daddy? Innnterestinng...
What was cool about the first BioShock was that you were more of a "tourist" in Rapture rather than actually belonging there... this could be cool too, though.

The underwater bits look awesome, and so does the combination of plasmids and weapons. I'm not entirely sure about buying yet though.
Also, it looks like playing as a big daddy will take away the vulnerability and fear of the first game. This one isn't going to be very scary I sense as you're in a big daddy suit, you're the most powerful thing in Rapture besides the little sister and you can dispatch most things with little effort.

You don't remember all the Big Daddy corpses around Rapture in the first game?

They're tough, but far from invincible.

I said vulnerability, not that the big daddies are invincible. In the first game you were a human who'd just been dropped in the **** and you feel weak. Compared to a hulking, metal big daddy with a massive ****ing drill, I think the fear would be taken away. I'm not on about difficulty, I'm on about the amazing tension and atmosphere in the first one, which will be taken away by the lack of vulnerability. I mean look at silent hill. They were so mind-numbingly scary because your character was a normal guy, and as soon as Silent Hill 5 was introduced with its US Special Forces main character, the fear is taken away because you're not as vulnerable. I fear the same will happen with this.

I do get where you're coming from, but I don't think you should worry too much. Just look at the footage. Looks creepy and frightening as heck.

And also, there may be things that jump out at you, but that's not necessarily fear, just shock. Seeing as you're a walking tank it'd be hard to build up much tension, seeing as you could probably completely destroy any threat with your massive ****ing drill.

Eh, really? But wikipedia said...
And I imagine much of the game's true fear is going to come from the Big Sister constantly hunting you down.

Oh I was just going by dividing the year into quarters. I didn't realise about all that fiscal stuff.
Yeah but you have a rivet gun which pretty much fires most of the stuff from the first game, and you have plasmids to use at the same time as guns/drills. All of which can be upgraded. Sounds like even from straight off the bat you're built like a tank.

To be honest, Bioshock wasn't all that scary, to me anyway... but I've got the emotions of a rock and I sit through most horror movies just fine. (little anecdote, I've watched a scary movie with some girl friends and they all grabbed on to my various limbs as I sat through the movie) But the atmosphere was brilliant, very creepy. What other game can you find dead cat bodies?

Now, to me, that looks like the beginning of Bioshock 2. So I'm guessing the Big Sister doesn't see any point to killing you just yet. She probably just wanted to get away from you, I mean, you are kinda following her...

I've known about the fiscal year, but I figured that when developers gave dates out to the public, they just divided the year into quarters because that's simpler for the general populous to understand.
And that picture is creepy Nos.
