Actually I told myself I wouldn't buy another Pokemon game except for a Gold or Silver remake. So this will probably be my last Pokemon game unless there's an honest-to-god series reboot.

Same. Word for word. Still can't believe I wasted my money on Diamond.
Either way, I'd like to see a 3D console game, like the Colosseum games, but with the ability to explore like you can in the handheld games. And no freaking metal-clad robot pogeymanz like they had in DP.

I'm looking forward to MagmaRuby and AquaSapphire next gen.
This is awesome; the Johto games were easily the best in the series, if not, ever made. I'm already wondering how the Apricorns will merge with the new Berry system.

The graphics in R&S aren`t dated, and they`re still somewhat easy to find.

Well, to be honest, some game elements kind of require the grid to be there.
Though to be honest, the main reason to keep it would be that it makes designing the map and dungeons easier. Which would make them lazy.

Not really. Practically all of Golden Sun's puzzles were grid-based but Isaac and Felix could put their feet wherever they want just fine.
Unless you're talking about the parts of the game that count the number of steps you make... but Golden Sun did that too. Remember the Sacred Feathers?

With the current system, you can use a repel, stay in one spot, and just look around. This will limit the encounters to only high-level pokemon without using up any of the repel. Can't do that in a non-grid system.
Though I will admit, a break from the grid would be kinda nice.

That sounds more like an exploit than an actual gameplay element.

The new female lead looks much better and less retarded than Crystal, but still looks like a retard.
Male lead looks mostly the same, but not as good as the old Gold. The pants are different and the sweater's tighter.
Of course, this isn't going to make a big difference for 64 bit (or something) sprites, but yeah.
Anyways... have another scan. http://www.true-gaming.net/tgupload/images...6f9dafeebe2.jpg
Ignore Arceus. That doesn't have anything to do with Heart Gold and Soul Silver as you should know. Instead, what's interesting here is the screenshot at the top left which shows what looks like a menu system on the lower screen of the DS. Hopefully this means we won't need to go through a bunch of menus to organize items and Pokemon and all that stuff like JRPGs tend to do.
The watch thing that the D/P/P had was kind of a waste of the DS' lower screen.

Still, a touch screen Start menu would be amazing, and something that should have been in D/P/P from the beginning. I just hope they either bring back [NAME]'s PC or use a better sorting system for the bag, scrolling through a hundred items every time made me want to FFFFFFFFFUUUU--

Heart Gold is a little weird off the tongue, but as a name it's definitely not bad in my opinion.
I was going to get the Silver remake no matter what, anyway, so Gold's remade name doesn't matter to me. Soul Silver is a great name; between the two version's I think Silver lucked out as far as names go. =P
#56
Posted 16 May 2009 - 10:02 PM
HeartGold and SoulSilver work fine, especially with the duality between "Heart" and "Soul". It breaks the convention a little of having something directly relate with the entry of the series (i.e. Fire with Red, Leaf with Green, they make sense "physically").
This is a little more abstract, but it's definitely marketable.

On another note, there's been a cloning glitch in every generation of Pokemon games so far; MissingNo. in RBY, the box trick in GSC and the battle tower in Emerald. Still nothing for the DS generation though, think it'll happen again here?

The only way I was able to catch Entei and Raiku (I played crystal), was to get them at rage lake. Then, the only other place for them to go was the route right below that, and so I'd search through there to find them. Though I think I lucked out with Raiku and found him on some other route.
But in the more recent games, the legendary ones weren't even all that difficult to catch. I mean, you didn't even have to run around looking for them.

Of course with all legendaries it's a combination of both, but there are people who played through G/S for over a hundred hours and never managed to even find any of the three dogs. I did catch the Entei running around on my LG, though. <3

The original Playstation ran at a little over 30MHz on a MIPS R3000. That was in 1994. The iPhone uses a 620MHz ARM processor underclocked to 412MHz; with a better graphics chip it could easily rival most PS2 games. </toasty>

And this seems to be the biggest congregation of legendaries. If Latios&Latias and Metwo are in it, they`ll have legendaries from every generation.

1. Red is now again the Trainer with the highest level Pokemon. It was him with his 81 Pikachu in G/S/C, but Pearl from Platinum took it with his Level 85 starter. Red is getting the title back with his level 88 Pikachu.
2. With a promo Celebi,
3. Not so much confirmed as infered, but the Pokemon timeline (excluding Hoenn cause I didn't play those and I don't know shit about them) goes Red/ Blue/ Yellow/ FireRed/Leaf Green -> Diamond/ Pearl/ Platinum -> Gold/Silver/HeartGold/SoulSilver. Cynthia goes to investigate Arceus and the Dragon Trio more in HG/SS, meaning D/P/Pl already happened and recently. Red is no longer Champion and Blue is a gym leader, leading me to think that at there is about a year between R/B/Y/FR/LG and D/P/Pl. Also, that train/ monorail/ whatever it is that goes between Kanto and Johto MUST have taken about a or two to make. Edit: I think R/S/E may take place before R/B/Y/FR/LG
