I remember when I was 11... No I don't.

I'd probably say something about how games have gotten easier and blah blah blah here, but tl;dr new gamers these days are ****in' pussies that can't handle dieing once.

But if you take a 90s gamer and place them in an 80`s game they will prolly appreciate it and find the difficulty `fair` as apposed to a 2000`s gamer being dropped into the 90`s.

tl;dr every year the halo franchise is in existence the gaming community gets stupider and loses reflexes.. wow that tl;dr is almost as long as the shorter paragrah. oh ****, no it`s longer. jeebus.

I wouldn't say Halo is the cause of casual gaming. It was the Wii that was the beginning of the end.

I wouldn't really complain about Halo being the cause of casual gaming, I think the problem with Halo is more that it's generic and is still popular/making money.

Sure Halo perfected the FPS genre for consoles, but then everybody copied it and Halo itself never changed across it's 3 games. And now you get FPS as it is today. Oversaturated and stagnant.

Edit: And it has a perfect movie replay mode IMO.

And it's probably the best FPS ever for parties.


I think Halo was the first to make FPS's really stand out on consoles. Wouldn't quite say perfected, but it did kinda set the standard.


And casual gaming started getting bad before the Wii. The Wii just made it far worse and more noticeable.



Personally, I've never really liked platform shooters all that much. I mean, some of them are pretty good, but it's just not my genre. I think I lean more towards turn based RPG's, Racing, and FPS's. And strategy games, of course.

This is true. While the trueskill bull**** completely fails, the matchmaking system itself is pretty damn good.

And the amount of customisation in custom games is more than most things.

People who call Halo bad are the ones who have played the campaign and not a lot else. It's not good until you play custom games, which is where it really shines through other console shooters.

And Halo isn`t bad, far from it, but its not a great game, just game. A very average shooter. The only reason it got huge is because its the only thing the original XBox had so fans had to find SOMETHING to hype as their Mario/Final Fantasy

Not matchmaking itself, but setting up games and getting people together. Far better than a lobby system with a host.
