It's a first person shooter set in a wasteland. Sound familiar?
How about COD4 style gameplay?
What about cel shading and a levelling up system with the complexity of WoW?
100% Open world where you can go anywhere and do anything you want?
Huge frikkin boss fights (Think of the sand wyrm things in Mass Effect. Now imagine them 100 times bigger, and fighting them on foot).
Awesome (and I think customisable) vehicles
Over 100,000 guns. They have a ridiculous figure of attributes and features for guns, and then they have an engine that randomises them completely, so you might end up with a pistol that shoots fire, or "One of the guns tracks onto something and locks, and after three seconds, [the target] suddenly explodes, director Matthew Armstrong says."
The same applies to enemies and terrain.
Oh, and it has 4 player drop in-drop out co-op play.
GOTY '09 pls.

But yeah, If they really have 100,000 different guns the development team can't have actually made all of them themselves, and a claim like that better have some backing or people are going to be disappointed. I guess that's why I'm not so hyped for this game, it's really promising the moon.

There's a set amount of gun pieces, attributes and appearances (Something in the 10,000s) and then a separate engine randomises all these parts and distributes them randomly around the world, creating millions of slightly unique weapons. Sure, some will feel pretty similar to others, but it's not as if developers created 2 identical weapons; it's the engine. I wouldn't say it's promising the moon, I'd say its some pretty nice technology they've got behind the scenes that manages all this.
On it's own in single player, it wouldn't be so great but because an IRL friend has also pre-ordered it, we'll have hours of fun in co-op.

It's trying to dispel the fallout associations; the concept for this game has been around since like 2004 and the creative director wanted to stray as far from possible as Fallout (well, as much as possible within the FP-RPG genre). Instead of focusing on moral dialogue, relationships between characters and following a set in stone story, this really does give you the freedom to do anything, focusing far more on combat and general fun.
It's got the FPS gameplay of COD, the RPG complexity of WoW/Mass Effect and the Vehicular aspect of..I dunno, maybe Red Faction? While it borrows aspects from these games, it aspires to be something completely different. I understand it's not for everybody, but believe me, it's not just "Oh another Fallout". It mixes up the genres to a point where, it's not trying to imitate them but has created a whole new genre.

But I think people can understand a levelling system without you having to give examples.

I don't trust/ care about anything that goes the "professional" route with games.
You ever talked to a fucking MLG ******? They are complete fucking pains in the ass and should have a nuke stuck up their fucking asses then shoved into a volcano that's fully of Toastys instead of magma.

No I agree, video game journalism is a horrible joke in today's age. When you see the opinions/editorials you gotta be careful, but when they're just giving you plain information about a game usually it's okay.
So basically don't trust reviews, but previews are fine as long as you ignore the paragraph(s) where the author says "this game is horrible/awesome!"

The game is fun, but I don't think I'll ever get used to the inventory. With that said, what's everybody's favorite gun?

In the inventory, guns are sorted in order of rarity. And you shouldn't ever need to store something, if it's worth storing you might as well keep it on your person. But then again, your guns will become obsolete after about 1-2 levels. I just sold anything I never used, regardless of rarity. If you pick it up and dont use it immediately, then it's not worth your time so dont hang onto it waiting for the right situation to use it, because you will find better substitutes anyway.
And fix 'dem claptraps and get more inv.

I still think using a list for an inventory isn't a good design decision when your guns have names like ZX1 Terrible Shotgun or GGN40/V2 Fearsome Sniper, imo icons that display stats would have worked much, MUCH better. Then again, I mostly play games that have inventory management as a core gameplay element on the PC, so I'm probably expecting too much from consoles.

I also picked up an AR that has 81 bullets in a clip, does high damage and great accuracy with an average rate of fire, but takes a long time to reload. It's really great for big enemies that I just need to unload clip after clip on. I think I sold it for more space though, while having 81 shots in a clip is nice I eventually found guns with higher damage that reload quickly anyway.

Something along the lines of an S&S sniper with a 2.7 fire rate and a 10 magazine so it's extremely versatile; it's almost automatic but also has a good zoom. So from far away I can pop heads and close up I can also pop heads.
Got a corrosive pistol thats great for Crimson Lance; 2 shots but 500dmg each so 1 headshot usually kills em.
Uhhh an awesome SMG with swirly bullets that does 90 dmg per shot with a 1.5 zoom and 10.something fire rate.

But on your second playthrough, you'll find that corrosive dmg for spiderants is almost essential as they take so fucking long to kill.

So I played this split screen today and DAYUM all the sudden two hours pass and my friend missed his class. XP It's been too long since a multiplayer game did that to me. It's really a shame split screen has become an endangered feature in games.

Ending was okay not great, wouldn't say I didn't see the vault being all it was cracked up to be but I don't reckon I saw that coming.
Overall with 17 hours of gameplay and I haven't done alot of the side crap and didn't really play online can't say I can be disappointed, just not impressed for all the hype.

Why is it you dislike games that are decent, yet you think Modern Warfare 2 is great? Your opinion on games is so fucked up.

If I don't have fun during a game, and finishing it becomes a chore because I merely want to find out what happens or just get my moneys worth, then it's not good. I have fun playing MW2 and the single player, while nothing exceptional or unique, was still fun, but I mostly play it for the mutliplayer, same way I used to play Americas Army and why I can see Counter Strike was so popular.
Borderlands wasn't fun for me, crossover games I'm beginning to find aren't great. It wasn't enough of an RPG to have a good story and varied quests, and it wasn't enough of a shooter to have a nicely tuned shooter system, unlike the COD4 style of gameplay Caael hinted at in the OP.
Also.

If Tom was directed at me, I said I didn't really play any, which is me saying out of that approx 17 hours 2 or 3 were online, I didn't see the point of it aside from getting higher levelled people to pretty much do the game for me. Duelling was alright but not so fantastic my head exploded.
