I saw this a few days ago.

I'm going to assume this is not true for now. It makes it easier that way.

why would you assume that? this is exactly something nintendo would do, and there's no way it's an april fools joke considering the date. we're gonna have to accept that nintendo, every year, continues to jump the proverbial shark over and over untill one day they'll fail, fall on the shark's head (which happens to be boasting frickin rocket launchers), and get eaten to a bloody pulp.

I think it's the big thing people are trying to sell these days. Apparently (I'm not sure if this is april fools or not) in April, Sony is launching a line of 3D television sets and will be releasing some 3D titles for the PS3.

Well I know for sure that Sony is going to be releasing 3D TV's sometime soon, and judging from their new philosophy of having the multiple departments of Sony working together, I wouldn't be surprised if they had 3D PS3 games to go along with it.

The depth perception video was incredible, although its not technically 3D surely?

                        Anyway I'm definitely interested now.

To be honest, the effect produced with this technology isn't much different than what's produced with modern 3D cinema technology. The only drawback being that the effect is only really noticeable when you're moving the handheld around. You won't see much of a difference from a regular screen if you hold the device still.

However, I'm sure that they could implement a technology similar to what's found in modern 3D TV's in which case the effect would be present at all times, even when the handheld isn't being moved around relative to the user's head.

There's a program that was developed by a software programmer which took advantage of a Wiimote and some infrared LED's to basically make a screen seem as if it were actually window, and you were looking out of this window into a Baseball arena.

He also did a lot of other really cool things with the stuff. I've got the programs sitting in a folder somewhere on my computer. Haven't tried them out since I don't have a bluetooth dongle for my PC.

Yeah they've been talking about it for quite a while, a month or two I think. So this 3DS is probably legit.

I don't really care much about the move to all this 3D crap to be honest, but I haven't seen it in action outside of watching stupid movies that you need 3D glasses for. I'm not sure if I actually want to watch bullets pop out of the screen at me while I'm playing an FPS. But then, waaay back in the day some people said they didn't want color TV because the colors would hurt their eyes. =/

I think I've seen those, it's some impressive stuff but it's more depth perception and less 3D. The technology is still amazing just to watch though.

To be honest, the only 3D technology that consumers have seen is based on depth perception. It's just that there's two ways do it. One of them tricks your brain into thinking there's more information available to it than there actually is (head tracking, as seen in the video of that DSi game), and then there's the other technology that actually give each eye a different view angle (traditional 3D technology seen in theaters, the new 3D television tech).

Like I said before, one will display the effect at all times, and the other one will only make the 3D effect apparent when your head is moving around relative to the screen or object.

True 3D technology would be like a hologram. Which I'm still desperately waiting for Hollywood to implement.

I find this odd given there's been almost no activity on the DSi front. They haven't touched the software since last year's Facebook integration, and that was back in July. Must have nothing better to do than release alternative models every few months.

Is why I didn't buy a DSi. Well, I didn't have money to justify it, but even if I did I figured there wouldn't be much games or other support for it.

Lol, I just wanted one for a whole bunch of tiny reasons. Mainly KORG Plus compatibility and some DSiWare titles by Skip Ltd.

Lol, I just wanted one for a whole bunch of tiny reasons. Mainly KORG Plus compatibility and some DSiWare titles by Skip Ltd.

                                        YES.

I would've gotten it just for the sake of getting into homebrew. The thing has an SD card slot built in for crying out loud.
