As most of you probably know, my life has been really busy the past few weeks, and I haven't had any time for the site. I have a bunch of things I want to do but am having trouble finding time and/or motivation to do them. I wish Camelot or Nintendo would just come out and tell us if there will or will not be a future Golden Sun game so that I can make some decisions about the future of this site, but alas things are left up in the air. Don't worry, the site and (hopefully) the forums will remain online indefinately, but if another game was announced it would definately give me the motivation needed to get this site to where I want it to be.

On a related note, I have decided to hold a contest. GSS has had the same site design since the merger of Isaac's Revenge and Golden Sun Haven in June 2003. Since it has been 17 months, I figure it is time we could use a new design. So this is how it is going to work:
    - Anyone can submit up to two (2) designs
    - All designs must be 780 pixels wide so that they work on 800x600 screens. You may also make a design that scales to a percentage width, but it must work fine for people with 800x600 screens.
    - The menus should have the same links as the menus on the current design, but you may arrange them however you wish.
    - Designs can be submitted as images (JPG, PNG) with their editable version from whichever graphics program you used (PNG for Fireworks, PSD for Photoshop, etc.). Designs can also be coded and hosted elsewhere and linked to, but I also need a normal image so that it can be displayed.

Other than those details, everything is fair play, just keep it PG please. I will make a duplicate topic in the "Web Design & Programming Forum" which will serve as the submission topic. Please go there to read for some more information. Once I feel enough submissions have been made, there will be a public voting and selection process to choose the winner. Please note that the winner is not garaunteed to be made the new official GSS design, although the chances are very very high. Good luck to all participants, and please keep comments about this in the topic in the WD&P forum.

Can we cut the banner off GSS? Or do you want EVERYTHING originally made?

That type of question should go in the contest discussion thread, but I'll answer it anyways. I guess you could cut the banner off of GSS, but it would probably be better to make a banner that fits with the theme of your design.

I just don't like making layouts with lots of links. Simple (and using a lot of images, css and the css filters) does me fine.

I'm actually get my hope back up again, seeing how I heard news that Golden Sun 3 was 'up in the air'. I think there just could be one, so much was left unexplained (mainly the Stone of Sages)...

I WOULD enter, but I've never made a site layout. :P

Likely they are keeping Golden SUn there as a series to pick up whenever they like, but they currently have no plans to make any more. Think of it like metroid. The Metroid series skiped the N64, and was only picked up again when the GC was made.

This means it could be anywhere between 6 months to 6 years b4 we see a GS3 :(

The layout comp sounds interesting, I must look into this more >:)

The re-design comp sounds very promising, hopefully we will get something even better than the current (the current layout is great btw, love it). Something similar would be nice (please use <divs), and strict html and css this time, please).

And Agatio, flaming sombody who spams unintentionally isn't going to help. It might make you feel better, but it only succedes in lowering yourself down beyond their level.

Sometimes you need to give newbies an adequate learning curve...
I bet that most of you spammed for a while (to a certain extent) before getting accustomed to the rules, and what everyone expects from you.

The board rules are very clearly displayed, and the link is on every single page. This is the first forum I ever registered at, and there were no rules displayed then, so yes, I did use to spam, but I quickly learned right from wrong, it's not THAT hard.
