SSBM has been the best game to have when friends come over or when you have a party...to me at least...the idea of Nintendo characters fighting is brilliant and simple...the gameplay is great...so is the graphics...
I loved this game and if you guys love it then what character do you use the most and which character are you best with?

Me? Well I like to use Roy...he looks cool dressed in gold...and his attacks are very strong...too bad he's kind of slow...hehe ^_^

A tie between Roy and Fox. Fox was a lot better in the first SSB because he was slower. He is too fast and hard to control in this game. Roy is too big. My bro plays as young link and he gets under my sword and annoys the heck out of me.

My favourite character is Link. He has a lot of long range attacks (such as the boomerang) and some short range attacks (such as spin attack). He is my best character. If you use him right he's pretty strong. It was pretty hard for me to master him. My second favourite is Young Link because he's faster than Link. But his attacks are a bit weaker. Except the spin attack. It hits the enemy multiple times before sending them flying while links only hits them once before sending them flying. 3rd favourite is Roy. He's stronger then Marth (especially the charge up attack which is usually a one hit KO if I charge it up all the way :P ).Captain Falcon is strong too but he's too fast . You can run off the edge without even noticing it.

True. Link is my favorite. Mario is awesome. Fox is great too, that is, if you can use him correctly. I am good at using samus. That was my favorite untill I got used to Link and mario.

My favorite is Roy n.n, I can control his blade perfectly and yeah...he's a bit slow sometimes but I get used to it.

Young Link is awesome to bug the heck out of my cousin with his spin attack xDDD. I just get near to him and make the attack 3+ times. My cousin always gets caught in the spin xDDD LOL

Kirby is fun for bugging too ^^. And he's great to take advantage of the lame mistakes that my other cousins do in that game. I just have to use his stone attack and they get KOed instantly xDD

I like using Sheik too ^^, but just Sheik, Zelda is too light and weak AND HECK SHE'S SO SLOW >.< But Sheik is one of the fastest in a way that you can actually control her ^^.


And I'd say the character I hate the most is Samus xO. My cousin (the one of the Young Link thing) is THE master of Samus (same as I'm THE master of Roy...at least against him x.x; ) and he uses her attacks to bug me like when I bug him with Young Link ¬.¬

You know what I do to annoy? USE DA DK POWER!!! It's really funny and I have some techniques of annoying. Here's some:

1. Grab and throw the other way, and then taunt (shrugging), making DK look stupid by not knowing where he just tossed the person he tossed.

2. Grab the person and slap him. Many times. Until he gets to 999% and then Ultra-Punch him/her.

3. Grab, press forwards once to carry the person on DK's back, and then jump down a ciff. Right at the last moment, throw the person and then uppercut to safety.

4. Same as above but don't throw the person at the last moment.

Samus is the only character that has a good variety of long ranged attacts and sometimes that can be annoying....
I just run up to him with Roy, grab him, throw him, and slash as she falls...just keep juggling him...

I don't use fox often becuase he is kind of weak and I hate his variety of techniques...
He's good in home run contest though...
I dont use Falco ethier becuase he's slower and I tend to have very bad luck with him...
I like to play with Luigi even though he is sometimes a weirdo...
Luigi has good moves like Mario...
I hate Captain Falcon...Looks weird, has weird voice, and has really cheap moves...
My friend always use Falcon Kick and then when I'm about 100% hurt he uses Captain Punch to knock me out instantly...geez no variety at all... :P
Lv. 9 captain falcons are soo cheap...That's the only thing I can't beat as fast...

Yeah, I like Roy, he's unstoppable. My friends use Samus and Fox. My friend who uses Samus keeps firing missles, but I'd just counter it or dogde it somehow, in a Roy VS Samus Roy wins easily (if you're good with him). My friend who uses Fox is just as good as I am, our fights are usually very close.

I feel that the N64 smash brothers was better. Simply because it was faster. Link was faster. NES was faster and stronger.

Nes in GC is so slow... I can still do some of my strategies but it isn't the same. Fox and Falco are great... Great speed, great moves and you can do some crazy combos with their power in the air.

You play with items? I don't play with items, because they give you advantadges, the best way to practice is without them. Final Destination and no items is pure skill to win.

Yes, Sheba...Mr. Game and Watch was not an actual game character...he was in a system call Game and Watch... It was 2d and had alot of bleeps and bloops and all kinds of weird things...

mr. Game and Watch is a great character to use but it relies on luck for one of his moves...its very funny when you jump or attack with him...Beez...or...beep...or...bloop...lol

Personally Roy is the best...Attack...Skill...Startegy...All comes together...if you're good...

All the characters are great and are easy to control but Roy is the coolest dude and has the coolest blade...I even sketched it out!

I never ever use items either...I think they are just cheap...especially pokeballs...
One time I was kicking my friend's ass so badly and then a pokeball appeared and he threw it...It missed by an inch but snorelax came out and killed me...

Here's something funny you can do with items ^^.

Go to training and pick to play against 3CPUs and put them to attack. Start putting a LOAD of pokeballs on the field and DON'T STOP! xDDD
It'll be a pretty nice and colorful mayhem xD.

Link is the best by a long long way, iv'e done all the events and have 286 out of 289 trophies, I v'e also unlocked all characters, stages and other features, most of it with Link. The trophies i'm missing are Paper Mario, Diskun and Crazy Hand. My next favourite character is Ganondorf who is not in the Zelda series on the poll for some reason. Link has over 9,400 KO's on versus and Young Link and Ganondorf ahve around 4,500 KO's each.

Roy isn’t slow! He’s fast… faster than Marth, at the very least. And his attacks are quite powerful. And yeah, I also wish his quotes were in English. But hey, it makes it more fun to listen to (we know it’s something cool and honorable though, right?)

My brother is quite annoying in SBBM. Especially with Falco. Whether he deflects my attacks right back at yours truly, does that cool special move where he moves quickly and creates after-images, he is ruthless with Falco.

Ah yes… I remember one time, when I underestimated my brother… I was charging up Roy’s special attack (the B Button) at Full Strength (it was Sudden Death). I thought I had one, when my brother DODGES it, and the attack is very powerful… and I lost. VERY annoying.

2. Personal experience.

My character is Roy, my brother's is Marth, and sometimes I compare them, Marth is so much faster.

Ok ever since I got the game, I started collecting the trophies, just like everyone. Now there is one left that I can't get, its been this way for a year, Diskin. The one thing that i cant do is "throw the hammer". Has anyone done it?

All right, let me explain it a bit better. . .

You see, SSBM came out as soon as GC came out in Japan, and for it, because of requests, they decided to add 2 characters from the popular game series "Fire Emblem". But then, they took out whatever character they had before (probably Siglud (Siggy) FE4 was really popular still, and added Roy, for the purpose of advertising the new FE game coming out next March. So poor, poor Roy was only a shameless advertisement *sighs*.

For both...there are 4 strikes...yet numorous combos...The simplist one is...Pressing "-> + b" 4 times...But you must do it in a rythem...Not too fast and not too slow...A quick second after each slash...1..2..3..4..Like that...My fav one is B, Up+B, Up+B, Up+B...You know you did it right when you see the last slash is flaming...at least for Roy it is...

Ah, I've done all of those combos...but it's more fun to mix and match while you're using them (>+B, ^+B, v+B, >+B ).

I prefer Marth; good at short and long range (not loooong range, like Link and Samus), quite fast, and a great character to use to trick enemies with (Counter=fun :smile:).

I also like Mewtwo, believe it or not. Sure, he's pretty light, but his Special and Smash attacks are very potent, and also good for screwin' with your opponent (Disable+Shadow Ball=B))

Mewtwo is almost like a clone of Ness, so I like 'em both. ^_^

The Down+A attack (flipping enemies in the air with a floorboard) is one of the best moves he can pull off, in combination with the mid-air A button attack, it'll pretty much send them flying.

I edge away from playing in the F-Zero Grand Prix stage (where you ride a moving platform through the track vertically). It kinda gets you off balance, and you have to be a little less frantic then the other F-Zero stage (where you start out on Cap'n Falcon's ship, then ride on the cars themselves).

Kirby Dreamland 64- Defeat the Target test with all 25 characters

Donkey Kong 64- Beat 15 Minute Melee once (if you're looking for an easy way to beat this, simply use Donkey Kong and use the B + Down combo [where he, err, "smacks" the ground with both hands alternatively])

Edit: For the Jigglypuff Target Test... well, I will assume you can get the first six with no problem- for the last four, you have to float in the air and use the "B + Side (in this case, the left)" Special Move, which happens to be a simple Punch- once you get one, immediately float to above the wooden path with the logs, go around, and repeat. You have to try and not waste puffs of air (as you are limited)... or something (sorry that it's confusing)...

Oh, and a different maneuver is to simply hit one, then float and continue. This requires precise timing however...

Yes...I checked...That seems just about right...Thanks for posting before me GL...Me kind of lazy these days...
For all the Target Tests: some of the targets you cannot get to, require their B(+ a direction) attack...So test out all of them...

Well, with it was luck that got me 1300+ with Ganandorf... What I did was first have him grab the bat, then jump and use his "B + Down" special (ehh, forgot what it's called) and he should strike the sandbag diagonally. Then, I followed through with two smash "A + Up" combos...

Which is where it gets tricky. You have to strike quickly (it can't be charged up, though very slightly is fine...) or something... I'll have to check it...

#1 This method i used, is very tedious but effective. First go Jigglypuff, you must sucessfully injure Giga Bowser and then instantly kill him with Down B Rest three times. You can afford to lose one life doing this. As for the other two, use Jigglypuff's superior jumping ability to folat over them, float from side to side of the arena (above Mewtwo and Ganondorf) when you collect any item there, whilst floating across throw it down at them, when their damage is high let bob-omb finish off or a superscope shot. If it's event 50 you're stuck on i did this: Ganondorf up+A smash constantly. I suppose you could do the same with Falcon and his ridicolous speed will help you dodge their attacks easier. Kill the MASTER hand first (the one on the right) then go for the Crazy hand.

#2 Kirby's Dreamland= Complete break the targets with all characters (i think)
DK Jungle= Survive the 15 minute melee (Kong Down+B works fine)

#3 I can't remember Dr. Mario's but Mario needs a very long double jump followed by an Up+B Jigglypuff needs a long six jumps and to be high enogh yo hit the target.

Not continous spin attacks, an airbourne massacre. Very few actually touched the ground because jumped up and hit them, (not to be big headed) i haven't met another SSBM player whose matched my skill with Link and i must've encountered a good 15 or so.

I decided from the start that Link was my character of choice because he was the best on the first one. So did everything with him, Ganondorf and Captain Falcon are really the only other characters i go. i think i've had 1500 versus matchews with Link and have over 10,000 KO's. The only things i can't do with Link are Adventure on Hard or higher, event #50 and #51 and a good score in home-run contest (still can't do that with anyone).
