Not really. Would you give someone lots of credit for merely taking a stock photo, colorizing it, then adjusting Contrast and Brightness? It looks good, but they didn't actually do much work.

So what? My first attempts at Photoshop involved learning layers and layer styles, which can be overall more useful for effects. But does that mean my basic bevels and pattern overlays were any good? Of course not.

Here's 2 more I just made...

The first is called Many Filters...
The second is called Life...

The Filters looks funcky, and the Life looks nice and calm. *likes the color blue* I like both. *claps*

Both could use brightness/contrast adjustments. Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast...

Here's a tip for the second one:
Go to Distort>Wave... (6 generators), and distort to your liking
Go to Edit>Fade Wave..., and lower opacity to 40-50
Go to Distort>Wave... again, and change the settings
Go to Edit>Fade Wave..., and lower opacity to 40-50 again

Repeat the above process until you get a real nice smokey look. Adjust Brightness/Contrast and color (Hue/Saturation) to make it less dull.

Sorry, I removed the graphics page, I will return it when I have some Shining Soul art. Here is my first:

It took about half an hour. I had to cut out the images from both game's box arts, and then creat a cool background image, then slap on the 2 cut out images and finish it off with a higher strength out glow.

Green is my favourite colour yes. But I like any colour that is slighlty dark with higher saturation. Like reds, blues, pruples and even yellows on occasion. I find green a colour that is easy on the eyes though. The guy at the top is also supposed to have a glow too. I'll remake that image when I have the time, but with a different bg, and smaller dimensions.

[EDIT] Here's the newer image. And I had to clean out my attachments, I had used nearly 1 meg of space, and could not upload anymore. I still have all my graphics on my comp though, so nothing is permanantly gone.

Eh, I don't think the bg matches the image all that well. I think you should go PS brush hunting, and look for a crystal brush set. Insert the brushes by going to the paintbrush tool, clicking the 'Brush' dropdown (upper left), and clicking the arrow on the button in the pop-up panel. Next, hit 'Load Brushes' and find the saved brush file. Look for the brush set (it will be a .abr file) and select it.

Use them on the bg, and play around with it by adjusting the contrast/brightness. Change the color, and blend the images by changing the layer blend mode. Finally, you should slap on some text. It feels empty otherwise. I recommend either an elegant looking font, blended in (but still readable) or a squared out font.

I was going to use the image as a splash. But I agree, the background dosn't match at all. I'll look into some cutom brushes also, any recomended sites?

How would I change the layoer blend mode? Is that where all the stroke, inner glow, outer glow, drop shadow etc. etc. is? Just play around with that?

Heh, I didn't draw it. It's official art from Shining Soul II, I just added an inner shadow, outer glow, drop shadow, and a nice bg. But thats anyway =) .

Window>Layer, click on your layer. There's a drop down box in the panel that says 'Blend Mode'. Change it.

Things that are new in this one:
- Background Music
- It stops at the end with a button for credits
- It's in a webpage, so the size says the same regardless.
- I read the chaper of my book on motion tweening a few nighrs ago, so now I can ease and change the tint etc.

Beware though, it's 300k, and the sooner I learn to make pre-loaders, the better.

Those are very good Agatio, don't take what I say too seriously, though, I've only done one layout.

Greens 'n Grays - It's nice, but try turning down the drop shadow on blending effects, it kind of takes away on it.

Basic II - It's a little to curvy, and I'm not a fan of the bevel and emboss/gradient things on it. =/

Color Wonderful - Colors are blinding...

Basic - I like it, though it could have some gradients, maybe some bevel and emboss - I don't really like the fading out of the color to white.

Simple grey - Like in the name - it's simple. It's also great.

Personal site 2 - It looks really cool. Logo looks fine, though it could be a little less simple.

Personal Site 3 - Zoh My Gosh (That's how I say Z0MG out loud. XD) It pwnz, that's about it. ...Then again, it could be a little wider.

Personal site 1 - It's alright, but I'm not a fan of the maple leaf brushes you used, it could have been differently.

Next time, just link to your devArt pages or something.

Anyway, the best are Green n' Gray, Personal III and Basic Grey. What needs working is graphical content and making certain sections or featured spots stand out better. Interest is key when getting people to read an article or simply enjoy your site. Most of the rest look either too tacky too plain.

Note on Green n' Gray: See if you can find a better shade, and substitute the time thing for something else or nothing at all. Also, it would probably be better if you balanced the columns so that they begin at the same vertical point.

It's not dependent upon Photoshop all the time. What usually works best is first sketching. Then once you do Photoshop, you know what you're going to make ahead of time. After that, it's coding things in.

Second one... I don't like it. I dunno why, but it's just a little... off. Whatever happened to the eyelashes? They aren't like... apart.

i think colors go really nice with each other. I think i like the lips (unlike Izar)... i think if you made them any lighter it wouldn't stand out much and it wouldn't look as nice. Just the title confuses me XDDD but like i said, i haven't seen any pro work or anything to compair with... so i'm just throwing compliments ;D

I LOVE THIS!!! oh gawd! Agatio! you are awesome!!! i dunno... it's just... so perfect... even though i think you could of played a bit more with the pupil's color balance and maybe make it stand out a bit more... it's still really awesome though, much better than your first. <_<

Queen was done fairly quick, only 10 minutes or so. And the lips on Dark Desire are supposed to stand out, like the eyes. They are meant as the focul point of the piece, "desire". The title comes from an Agony Scene song, and I thought it suited as the piece has an almost sexual vibe to it (the female, the eyes, the lips etc.). Thanks guys, comments are much appreciated.

"The Queen..." Nothing really special IMO, eye manips are what most people do but, it's still fun to do those :P It's also good practice. I like <3

Friend also has that waxy touch that Dark Desire has. I think it could be a bit more...defined if you know what I mean.

Dark Desire had a lot of gaussian blur going on, and the original shot wasn't GREAT quality, I did the best I could. I totally agree with your comment about The Queen.

I like it. Good colour techniques and blending. I think perhaps the lips should have been a bit more of the rusty brown colour, but maybe not. The eye looks fantastic, well done.

(on the last one): I see you didn't use the greeking this time :(. Its great though, I love the nice round feel to it, so perhaps round the edges of the picture?

That's what someone on NS said too, but I didn't get it. I had bright red and yellow, a nice green, some gold on the sidebox headers, plus the whites and greys, I think it had plenty of colours. What do you mean so I can bare it in mind for my next design?

The colors for strawberry... hmm, i dunno, i cant really explain in words, it's more of a feeling.
Banana, Mmm, very similar to strawberry but the bg just stands out way too much, very hard to focus on the actual content. I think you should have tried more negative colors for the background and make the banana stand out most. :( Hmmm, compaired to strawberry, A good thing about banana is that the color for the background is MUCH more eyecatching. Great Work.

Alright. let us get down to bussiness shall we?

The strawberry one, nothing fits on it, and I'm talking about the layout it'self, and not the text. The strawberry dousn't work with the gradients on the side. The colors should be somewhat the same, or complimentary to each other. Like red and green, or red and red. Or atleast somewhat close on the color wheel. Mabey putting the strawberry on the bottom of the page to make your eyes see the harmony of the red strawberry to the dark orange.

The bananas one, on the other hand, has a great layout, because the bananas line up with the gradients quite well. It looks attractive to the eye, though like colors gets done alot. Try complimentary colors every once in a while. Match yellow with a violet gradient.

And your edgar is nuts!

The strawberry is placed at the top because it is aimed to be the focul imagery point, it's an alternative to a banner image.

Then a good idea would be to match the gradients in some way. Complimentary or like colors, which ever fits in your opinion.
Or you could just reverse the gradients going from dark to light, top yo bottom.

As for the dark image, It's alright! Others would enjoy it, but I'm not much of a dark kinda guy. But it is well done!

They aren't made as gradients, I simply added a drop shadow on the main body shape to make it look as though the container is floating. If I did then in reverse it would look silly, trust me. And I don't get the aligning issue. I aligned everything the way it should be.

Deviantart is being MEAN. It won't let me view your latest and greatest. Actually, I met someone who's trying to start up yet another console site. I'm all for new console sites, but his layout flat out sucks(well, so does mine). Anyways, think you can do one of your famous makeovers to this? Also, if you do, can you post the source in HTML along with the image files?

I know, requests can be annoying because you have little inspiration, but I have yet to see a console design made by you, so, I thought it might be something worth toying with. Anyways, if you don't want to, that's plenty fine, I just think that this guy needs help, and you could do it better than most people here.

Edit: Deviantart isn't being a pain anymore, Slaughter looks amazing, and now I know that you just did a gaming website at the top of the page, heh. :rolleyes:
