Question About Golden Sun I want to buy the game.

I know this may sound like a stupid question, but why is the first Golden Sun game so expensive if you want to buy it in factory sealed, brand new condition? I looked on Amazon and someone on there wants 77 dollars for the game, in brand new condition  . I also looked for the game on eBay and a seller on there wants 65.00. When this game was first sold in stores, didn't it sell for around 30 dollars? I don't own the first one yet, but I'm wanting to buy it. If I can't find it in a store for retail then I'm definately going to buy a used copy. I just would like to know why it's that expensive though! Thanks for any info.

I agree with Venus dude 21. GS is a great game and sellers take the opportunity to get a lot of money off of the game.

here, the game was about 50$ in stores, but I got a used copy. it still came with the box, instruction booklet, etc, but for 20$ less. plus, I traded in my old 'Kirby: Tilt 'n' Tumble" for 10$ less, making it a total of 20$. not too shabby.

(by the way, I got it at Microplay, if that helps any)

(also, this should probably be in the "help" forum)

This may go back on how Golden Sun is viewed as a great game, but I'd have to say the above reasons are not good enough.

Golden Sun was made by Camelot, which has great graphics designer for sprites. That's basically it. Because Golden Sun is popular today is because of its amazing graphics and its vivid special effects. The whole game engine is as traditional as it gets, but it's not even special or innovative. In fact, it's just pretty basic compared to what other RPGs give you (like Final Fantasy or Tales of Symphonia). It's simple; get into a random battle, attack the monsters/heal your party members, end of battle. And also, the whole overworld aspect is the same deal. Solve puzzles using special skills or items, get to the boss, battle it, defeat it. Also, equipping armor and weapons isn't new, either, along with the class changes. It's basically all the RPGs you've played already put together.

But don't get discouraged. Despite this set-back, it is a fairly designed game. I bought it just for a challenge, and it has satisfied me at the most. But, with it being that expensive, what has the world been coming to?

Anyway, yeah, I'll move this to the Help forum.

GS1 shouldn't be more than 30USD anywhere. Anything more than that, and you are getting ripped off.

I suggest EB games and look in their used games section. I always see it there.

Yeah, EB games has a lot of used games. GS1 is bound to be there.

The first golden sun game is not being made anymore, so the left over ones that are still sealed are being sold at a high price, because everyone is looking for the first one after they have played the second one.

Where do you live? It should be woth about 25-30 USD if you live in the United States. Another reason could be that GS is rather old, and as much as I hate to say it, Camelot may have put less work to or stopped making it; the one I think is likely because of the price range you said being 60+ worth in USD.

I got GS on sale for $15.34, third happiest day of my life. Second happiest was when I got GS2 for $5 when Ames closed WHEHEHEEEEE!
(it was retailed at $25)But seriously, I've seen places sell a GBA-SP for like 70 bucks. You are getting massively ripped off.
