you know when isaac's mom is trying to wake him up? well then they walk out into the living room and isaacs dad comes in and says (in a nutshell) to hurry up. well then he walks out and isaac and his mom walk by the table, and the candle on the table is blown out and they look suprised. what happened?

(btw i'm playing the game again...i'm not so obsessed that i remember that small detail :P )

        a draft?
        Ill say
that was a really big draft.
because there was a big storm outside

I think it was just when Kyle closed the door. From DullahanX7's point, there was a rather big storm outside, so any gust of wind that came in through the door at the last second could have burned it out. And since it was raining, there would've been a good chance that some moisture was caught in that gust of wind and would had reached the flame, snuffing it out.

Perhaps it symbolizes the fate of Vale/Kyle/etc?

            An extinguishing candle = death.

Although the logical explanation is a draft/wind/storm as it was pretty bad out.

Kyle never died, and Vale never got destroyed until 3 years later. =/

Let's just say it was the draft.

maybe it was the rain, after the storm(not sure how long after) Isaac's fixing the roof from holes.

But probably it was the wind when the door was opened.

I've actually always thought it was the wind from the door closing ever since I first played GS.

I think they look suprised is because they got a little scared after the room turned dark.

                      I never noticed that.
I always wondered why it stopped and they looked at the table.
I thought they were looking out of the window at the storm/ boulder / similar stuff.

it could just be a nice touch that the developers put in as an added detail. But the wind is probably the best answer

The candle takes too long to go out for it to be the door.

well lets put it like this... there was a major storm outside, the houses arn't exactly draft free so the most logical outcome being that it was a draft and Nintendo put it there just to add a bit more suspence (not alot just a bit more.)
I mean you've just woken, your mothers telling you to get out quickly and you can hear the storm outside... upon leaving the candle goes out and big exclamation mark over head... Thats basically it! There's no real point to it, it's just something that was added. Just think if it didn't happen they would have just walked outside...

Maybe, beacause of the storm, the wind's blowing, an when Kyle opens the door, a gust of wind enter the house o.o

Maybe it's the power of alchemy, warning the people to flee, or the wise one doing the same but he's invisible.

It the same in films and stuff... there no point but, well let me put it like this... If golden sun were a film and they came from downstairs and spoke with Kyle. Then while they were walking from the stairs around the table and outside you'd lose intrest if only for a moment. So The cadle just keeps people eyes on the screen basically... Anything would have worked but the candle i think was used because of the storm...!
