    Oh ****...

'Nuff said. This is just... wow. I'm at a loss for words. :P But in a good kind of way.

Next thing you know, we'll be able to watch movies on the DS too, with the touch screen as the controls to Fast Forward, Pause, Stop... etc. :D

    EDIT: XDDDD

I suppose browsing the web would be the next logical step for the machine. Shame that it's only for Japan (at the moment).

It wont only be for Japan, and if it is a homebrew version will come out based on nintendo's one.

Sweetness, Nintendo hasn't done this kind of technology yet, ,DVDs and Internet, not that I know of that is.

I know that it will spread but the article says that it is just for Japan right now.
Personally I wouldn't be desperate for the internet on DS. Why not use the PC instead? (Except when you're abroad)

I CAN'T WAIT!! I'll finally be able to play online games again!! My dad won't let me play online games on the PC because he thinks it's a back door. And I know it said that the DS could get on the net, but it only showed the DS Lite. Hopefully that doesn't mean that it's only for the DS Lite cause' I want to get on the net with my regular DS.

One of the most promising features of this Web Browsing Application (related with Opera) is the option to view the website, close up and detailed on the top screen, while the bottom screen displays an overhead, entire "map" of the site; you can then use the touch screen to select, or drag across, a section of the site, and it will be viewed on the top screen.

^sounds a lot like the Linux Homebrew Browser for the DS that was near complete a while back. I'm guessing(and hoping) that you can sometimes switch to the keyboard on the bottom screen. I know that I'll pick this up stateside if it ever gets here, seeing as how I desperately need an extrordinarily portable computer right around now, and this is as close as you'll get. It'd be nice to have a word doc program on there too...but, I think that's out of the picture right now.

...then again, what if Microsoft absorbed the ideas behind the PSP and DS into one Xbox portable, with the equivalent of a palm OS, but with normal gaming too, and online stuff. It'd have a touch screen, high resolution, something much like a joystick, maybe two, and a home button thing to switch between the gaming and the computer OS.

Too bad that post wasn't relevant. :P

I doubt I'll buy either of these. MAYBE the Web Browser, but I'll just use the PSP's Browser for now, simply because I don't have to buy it as an accessory.

So the DS is only made for gaming, huh? :)

If they do have internet on the DS, it would be much more worth my while to buy it. Will they raise the price of the DS though?

The internet browser is bought as a DS Card. You insert it into the DS Slot and boot up the browser like you would a DS game.

                              ...presumably.

Or it might be on a Gba Option Pack which would interface with a Ds game but this is less likely.

...no. If any of you skim articles like me, you'd know that the Web Browser is only bought a s DS Card.

No if you read the Opera forums the creators of Opera have said that it hasnt been discussed if it will be on a Ds cart or a Gba cart

                                        Link

Edit: Ok after reading other things on the site it has been said that there will be a Ram expansion that slots into the Gba port so it must be in the DS Port

Edit 2 : There is also going to be Java Suport and Limited Flash Suport

Java Support? Will you be able to download p2p networks such as Limewire on the DS?

I dont think so as of yet no storage area has been anounced so even if you could run it there would be no where to put the file

It's said that we're going to get a GBA Pak which will work as a RAM (Random Access Memory for you technology newbies http://computer.hows...ks.com/ram.htm) although I think that was for the MAX Media Player.

It's pretty incredible how they could fit something like that on such a tiny little card. And RAM on a GBA cart? Genius.

How else would you be able to save games on the GBA without a RAM in the cartridge, it is genius.

I finally decided to get the DS, but I have to get the money first.
