Whenever I use the quick edit option, it always comes up with the 'Edit By Line'. I find this very annoying, as I would like to use the Quick Edit feature more often, but I don't like the little line of text beneath my post. Can this be changed?

I think that the "edited by: ..." line is just there to prevent confusion. For example, without it, someone could flame someone else, and then after they reply, change their original post, and everybody would think that the second person is crazy. This way, everyone knows that the post has been changed.

I believe taht an administrator can make it optional if they wanted to, but is it really that big a deal?

If you don't want the edited notice just click full edit instead.

Full Edit takes longer though, I'd rather have my instantaneous edit.

          I agree with Split. XD

I see no "Edit by line" option. Please, point it out for me.

When you're editing a post, there's an option to 'Add the Edit By line in this post'. A little line of text appears beneath your post, see?

When you're doing a Fast Reply, that line of text appears without your permission.

I don't even think normal users can turn that off.

If you can, it's a mistake and I will fix it.

If you can't, it's because we will use that to settle disputes, see what you posted before, etc. It's a security and rules thing.

I've never seen anybody change their posts except to fix spelling errors or misinformation.

You may never know. There may be an argument where a person realizes he is wrong and goes back to change his post, making the other side look like an idiot.

And that would be a worldwide crisis?

No it wouldnt be, but is having that text underneath a world crisis either? You're sure acting like it is.

There are more important things wrong with this site then the stuff you are suggesting. The line under the edit is just a fact and unless you select full edit, you have to live with it. Maybe they'll change that on the next IPB.

Fine, I guess I got my answer. I'm leaving this topic to the Mods.
