This is basically a topic where you tell us where you first heard of Golden Sun, and why you decided to pick it up and play it.

I was given GS as a birthday present after my parents had read good reviews of it at Metacritic.com. I've never put it down since, having bought GS2 shortly after it was released.

It was referred to me by a friend. I went out and bought The Lost Age, before quickly realising that I needed the first game before playing the second. So I waited until Christmas and sure enough, I got my hands on the the original Golden Sun.

I finished each game in about two months.

Reffered by a friend, sort of. He was playing it on a long bus ride and I kept asking where that awesome music was coming from him. He got an SP for christmas, so he sold me his old GBA and the GS1 cartridge. He let me borrow TLA, once I finished it and had to give it back, it wasn't long before I bought my own copy. Our battle record is 21-1 (I got ****y that one time with all djinn on standby.)

I had enougth money for one gameboy game and was desperate for a decent RPG, had it boiled down to Golden Sun and Breath of Fire. I flipped a coin and walked away with Golden Sun. Did'nt put the game down untill the lost age came out, Then I bought that.

I tried Breath of Fire, and though I had heard good things about it, I just couldn't get into it after just finishing Golden Sun.

It took a long time before I could try another RPG, which turned out to be FE7, which is also a great game.

I found that the first Golden Sun was quite difficult to find in shops, yet there was a surplus of The Lost Age's. How very strange.

The first GS came out in the early stages of the GBA so it had a lot of competition. That would probably be why there are less of them.

The boxart. This is when I would pick out a game solely on its boxart. Incredibly, I was always completely happy with what I got...Strange. I've got good taste.

I'm sure there are many on this forum who would argue that but I am the ones who will agree with you that TLA is a better game.

Yeah, TLA pwn3d. It was a much bigger game with a more involved plot. It had such a huge world, at points you forgot it was a linear game.

Playing the game over is almost as fun as playing through the first time. It's such a rush playing the first time, though. I just couldn't put it down.

I'm one of the ones that SoT talked about. I preferred the original as the storyline was good without being too complicated. I also thought it was too easy to get lost in TLA. I like both of them, but I prefer the original that little bit more.

Replaying is absolutely worth it. I love hard mode. It makes me think again. Have you ever fought the hard mode Doom Dragon? I had all my Dijnn on standby and used them all in 2 full rounds of summoning. I didn't even destroy one head. I can't wait for hard Dullahan. That is going to be awesome!

GS has one major advantage over GS2, I'll give you that much. It is much easier to understand and connect with the characters in the original Golden Sun game. I, personally, was swamped by the number of 'main' characters at the end of GS2. And, although it was an appropriate ending, I just could never get into Felix as I could getting into Isaac.

This may be because you can understand Isaac's motive in the first game. He is saving the world he lives in by stopping the destruction of man by Alchemy. Then, the second game throws a curveball and shows you how lighting the lighthouses is a good thing. After playing through twenty hours in GS trying not to light the lighthouses, it takes a while for you to understand why you should.

That being said, I still prefer GS2 for it's significantly better replay value and features that trump the original GS.

                                            The first time I heard of Golden Sun was when my cousin recieved it several years ago at Christmas. I watched him play it, and I thought it looked interesting. Once I got the game, I was hooked on it and I couldn't put it down. n.n;;

I got The Lost Age not long after it was released. In my opinion, it's better than the original except for the fact that the original was...the original.

I knew absolutely nothing about the game. I haven't even read any reviews or anything. All I knew about it was that it was an RPG and that it was very, very good. I really wanted to play a good RPG at the time so I bought it. That's the whole story.

I read about in Nintendo Power, and I was looking for a good RPG for the GBA. I've been hooked ever scince.

I saw my friend play it. When I had the chance, I tried it out and liked it. I got myself a copy. Soon after, I heard there was a GS2. I got that and a link cable. The End.

My friend is such a sore loser. I took him on with my Rayquaza on my Ruby version, and was doing quite well until he sent out his Mewtwo. I argued that the odds were completely against me but he insisted on continuing. Needless to say I was pwned.

Then later on, I challenged him to a link battle on The Lost Age, and just as I was about to wipe him out, he muttered something about missing all the combo summons and switched off.

It's amazing how we can stay friends with this sort of thing happening all the time.
