I got a DS Lite, and boy, am I one happy customer. It's so small and lightweight, it makes me realize that the Standard DS was in fact quite heavy for a portable!

The color is in black. I'm pretty lucky to have been in UK last week to get one since we don't have Black [yet] in the States. In a way I hope we never get black here because the DS Lite is about $20 (about 10 pounds) more expensive in the UK, and that would mean I'd wasted $20...

I'd reccomend the DS Lite to everybody - particularily those who have waited to get a DS for whatever reason.

    Do you got yours?!

Nope. I've got my standard DS and that will be good enough for me. I just think it's a bad idea for me to get a Lite when I've got my current one. I know that the Lite is better in terms of size and stuff but I'm not willing to pay out for something that I effectively already own. That's just how I feel though, don't let me put you guys off. If you don't own a DS then it's a great chance. Now if someone offered me one I would take it! <_<
It's annoying though. The moment I got my GBA Nintendo announced the SP and the situation is the same here.

I don't think I'm getting one for the same reason I never got the original DS or any other system for that matter. Money. I have enough to buy one on my own, but I'm a cheap basterd and I'm not willing to shell out hundreds for my entertainment. That's why I'll stick with my SP. (That I got for $50 from a friend.)

Aw geez. It seems the Black DS' have a bad D-Pad that doesn't like diagonals much.

I didn't notice because I was playing the New Super Mario Bros. (where you don't need diagonals lol!) but now that I play ACWW it's just... argh!!

            IGN Blog said:

I seem to have gotten a black DS system with a bum D-pad -- it doesn't like diagonals. The D-pad plastic "pops" when trying to move up + left, down + left, up + right, or down + right. Eventually the game will recognize that the two contacts are being pressed, but it takes effort. I may have to disassemble it and see what the problem is.
Nintendo have a habit of offering free fixes for these kinds of things at shops like GameStop and such, but since my DS is "foreign" they may not take it. Maybe I can pool out some cash, or maybe I just have to play with it more before it "fixes itself". Who knows.

**** @ NINTENDO all the other DS Lite's seem to be fine.

I was going in to trade my DS and some cash for a lite, but since the ****ing lable rubbed off so easy, they wouldn't take it. D; Looks like I'll have to try Ebay... * shudder *

Plan on getting a DS Lite soon, nearly saved up enough money for it. My first games will probably be Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow and Metroid Prime Hunters.

But I'd actually prefer a black DS Lite. Any word on when that will be launching stateside?

...So where is it then? If it's on a piece of paper, it can at least be put in a file.

All the info rubbed off and is impossible to read. The info is gone unless my memory somehow turned photographic and I could retrieve the images from the unused corners of my memory.

It's not exactly etched on. It's immediately part of the shell, like it's actually colored ON it and it won't rub off.

Right now, they only have it in the 'cream' color here in Canada. I just had a question. Does it have the same D-pad as the original GBA?

It has the same D-Pad as the GB Micro.

BUT WAIT FOR A NEW BATCH OF DS LITES!! 60% of the current ones don't like it when you press diagonally on the D-Pad! I might just get mine sent to Nintendo so that they can fix my cheap-ass D-Pad.

I'll probably get one when the new Black DS Lites come in. I don't own a DS, so I might as well get the best impression of it that it can offer to get me going.

I don't get why you guys don't think NPC is just a decoy account. Did you check his ip adress?

Anyways, the DSLite I imported yadaya months ago from Japan has always had a fine D-pad, so it's probably just that they rushed to get more Lites out in the states sooner, and cut back on quality or assurance. Looks like it hurt them, badly. Ah well, I got mine all working and I'm happy. <_<

Through a bit of research, it seems that about 40% of the DS' Lites out have a good D-Pad, and 60% of them have bad ones.

The bad D-Pads will accept diagonals if you press it just right. It's not like the original DS where you just had to slide your thumb around slightly, you actually have to push your thumb in the direction you want.

So for now, I just have to get used to it until I can see if I can get it fixed some way. I'm surprised that this hasn't been discussed by IGN or Gamespot more, considering that it seems to be a big problem that alot of people have.

If you're really impatient to get a DS Lite, it's possible to learn the trick on moving diagonally and get it done almost every time. You'll still find yourself wishing that the D-Pad wasn't so crappy, though.

...Nintendo would have to move away from the DS and onto some other kind of portable for the DS Lite to be worth a mere $50! Normal stores wouldn't even hold the DS, it'd be just like what the original Gameboy Advance is today! <_<

Why not sell your DS and get about - say - 2/3 of the cash needed to get a Lite, then get the last 1/3 of it yourself?

Because I don't feel the need to. Even if I sold the DS I'd still have to come up with the extra amount needed for the Lite. I might as well be happy with what I've got.

It isn't that I don't have the money, it's that I'm not willing to spend more for a console I rarely use...
