I'm going to be gone again for a few days, as I visit St. Louis on Tuesday. Nothing interesting going on with the site, though plans for the site revamp are currently ongoing. The content management system will be written as I do a pay job, so I anticipate I'll be able to get started on GSS sometime in September or October.

I made a big update on the GSW DevBlog, outlining the proposed timeline for releases, so go check it out if you are interested in the GSW project. For those of you who have helped me with sprites in the past, please look for me on AIM starting Wednesday, I have some more work to be done.

:P It makes more sense when you read it a second time. Just what is a content management system?

I myself am leaving on Tuesday and won't be back until Thursday. I hope to help with sprites, though. Just a heads up. So Thursday it is?

Split, a content management system allows me (and any staff/helpers I might have) to add, edit, and generally "manage" all of the content on the site. That also includes the templates that are used to generate the final HTML code for each page.

Normally, someone would write the HTML by hand or in a program, and then upload the files to their server via FTP. But a CMS (content management system) allows me to manage and maintain the site entirely through my web browser, by logging in to a control panel. Thus it makes my life much, much easier.

Well, Eugine, I intend to use it on a number of the sites I run. If I ever get it to a point where I would feel comfortable releasing it to the general public, then I might. But I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and so I don't imagine that would happen for quite awhile. Plus, I would have to write extensive documentation and tutorials and everything, which I'm not sure I will have the time for. But maybe in the future.
