A quick search through the Off-Topic archive will reveal dozens of threads based on current political issues and/or the latest news topics. Perhaps another forum is in order to contain these threads?

I do enjoy such topics... but I'm on the fence as to wether we need a whole forum just for them.

We could shift over all the old topics to make it look popular. :agitated:

Off Topic wouldn't be Off Topic without affairs.

The reality is, a large majority of members aren't mature / intelligent enough to actually hold a mature and intelligent conversation about current & world affairs, and it would simply not work. Perhaps one pinned thread for current affairs, or just make the topics in the Off Topic forum and see how they fair.

I agree with Agatio, at least at the current time. If you want to create an official Current Affairs thread, let a moderator know and we will pin it. I'm not sure how useful a forum dedicated to news/current affairs, so for now just keep the topics in Off-Topic.

I would like to know why you suddenly reversed your opinion while I was away.

Split, are you referring to my post? If so, I'm not sure when exactly I stated a contrary opinion. I have been away the past two weeks, so my memory may be a bit fuzzy, but I never advocated having a dedicated Current Affairs forum so I'm not sure that I reversed my opinion.

If you aren't referring to my post, then nevermind. But it would help to make posts less ambiguous in the future.

Is this not a moot point anymore? We have a Current Affairs forum now.

I was referring to you, Max. If you thought it was a good idea then I wonder why you didn't just create the forum in the first place.

Speaking of which, I fail to understand why Current Affairs is a subforum. It's an entire topic of its own, and thus it deserves better.

Actually, I was wondering that myself when it was first created. The same for the Console/Computer game subforums.

I'm not sure what prompted a bumping of this topic, so let me put an end to this discussion:

The moderators, Nick, and I are working on a new forum organization structure which will premeire with the release of the new GSS site. Along with the new skin, the forums will be reorganized and some new sections added. So I just ask for your patience, and we will do our best to change things to a more logical ordering.
