"The goal of this GSS overhaul project is for me to turn GSS into a finalized, archival-quality repository of all information relating to both Golden Sun games. The forums will stay around, but when the site is complete I won't be posting news on the front page anymore, just on the forums. I expect that this project will take into September or October to finish, especially since I want to make this as perfect as possible."

This is what Max recently posted. No elaboration necessary, the next (and presumably final) major change to the site will be a complete, archived database relating to the Golden Sun games.

Also, Max mentioned that he and Andross are working on a new design for the site to complement this.

Now then, I apologize if the answer is now obvious, but I would just like to confirm: will that be it for the site?

A while ago, a few members of the forum sought to create a "fansite", a subsidiary of GSS if you will. I don't know how much progress was made on the site, but seeing as how nothing concrete has emerged...

Obviously, any such site would interefere with the current, and final, plans for GSS. I was going to suggest that the project be revived, and to attempt it again, but I also awknowledge that with the GSW project, any other major additions to the site are unlikely beyond this point.

Therefore, again, I would just like to confirm; this GSS overhaul will essentially be the conclusion of the main site, and nothing more will occur beyond it, correct?

The GSS overhaul will not necessarily be the conclusion of the main site, per-se, but will simply transform GSS into a form that I feel would never have to be modified again unless new GS games were to come out. Basically it will become an authoratative resource for anyone who discovers the GS games and looks for information, but obviously won't be actively updated with new content (mostly because there isn't any new content to get).

Now, about the subsites. Anubis came up with the idea and was spear-heading the project. However, he had to leave the internet for over a month just as things were getting rolling, and not much came of it. As I said back then, I would be more than happy to host a quality website on another game (preferrably an RPG), someone would just have to contact me with a proposal and be willing to do all the work (design, content, etc.), I would just be providing hosting.

About the sub-site, lets just say it isn't that dead. :P

I have plans of backing up the subsite with a Sprite Archive of the game in question (given that it is on GBA) if it ever takes off.

I had thought that it was the DS version of Advance Wars, but I could be mistaken. Can someone verify this?

The Advance Wars DS is still sprtie-based, but I'm not able to rip their sprites due to lack of good tools. (Can't mention them on the forum)

                  Ahh, I see.

So, Mr. T, are you allowed to mention how much progress has been done on the mini-site? When can we expect it to be ready?

I'd rather keep that a secret, but it's aimed for the end of summer, or possibly mid September. But don't get your hopes up.

I'm glad to see you're active in this, Mr. T. I'll be glad to see a site sometime soon.

As for GSS, the archive idea is great. The site doesn't need to be pretty anymore because we don't need to necessarily attract attention. GS and maybe even the GBA are a thing of the past as it stands right now and this is a step in the right direction for GSS.

I offer my coding services - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, XML - for the minisite if needed.

This doesn't mean I'll do it for you (like code a CMS), but you if need a little help here or there, you can talk to me.

With the forums experiencing changes (and possibly more to come), and the promise of a new mini-site, GSSF really stands a great chance of a phenomenal revival.

Well, it could go either way. I've always wanted to be the Admin of a forum, and I am heading the project, but it would definately benifit GSSF much more to have it integrated since there would be a link to it from the mini-site. I think we'll have it integrated though. It would be easier, and members of GSSF wouldn't have to switch between the two, they would still be on the same forums.

It would probably be a good idea to have it somehow integrated though, so that it doesn't draw members away from GSSF, because that's the last thing I want to do.

It had always been my intention to have any subsite forum being a subforum of the main GSS forums. The details of how that visually looks will be worked out later, once the subsite itself is actually close to completion.

Sounds good to me. I can live with that.
