I played Pokemon before until about two years ago. I lost my copy of Ruby, and sold the others ^^...
So, with the release of Pokemon D/P, I need some advise.
I'm considering buying two Pokemon titles, one will be D/P the other, one of the GBA titles. So, which should I buy? Diamond/Pearl and Leaf Green/Fire Red/Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald? ^^
Or does it really make a difference?
Mind you, I have no idea of ANY of the Pokemon title except Ruby.

It wouldn't really bother me as they're all pretty similar. I'd go for the newest ones personally.

I was thinking of getting Emerald myself (the newest one for GBA), but was looking for a reason not to get it.
Is there any major difference with Diamond and Pearl worth buying one over the other?

I'd say go ahead and play it again, it's a really enjoyable game when your into it. What I advice you is to just buy either Diamond or Pearl, and seeing as the legendary in Pearl is much cooler... Maybe you should take that one. But I advice looking a bit around at www.serebii.net before you make your dession.
But if your willing to spend money for another game, buy either Emerald or Fire Red/ Leaf Green... It all depends on your tastes. You want Articuno, Zapdos, Moltress and Mewtwo? Get FR/LG. You want Groudon, Kyogre and Rayqauza? Get Emerald. All other Pokémon you can get in both games, and if not you can get them in Diamond or Pearl.
So that's my little advice, hope it helps.

I liked Fire Red better then Emerald.
Emerald is very similar to ruby, in world, pokemon etc. If you didn't have Ruby I'd go with that one.
Fire Red had a replay value to it. It was like playing my very first pokemon adventure (red) over again. That why I'd choose for Fire Red or Leaf Green.
Emerald is to Ruby as Crystal was to Gold. Same maps, pokemon, gyms etc., bigger story, more to do.

Version Exclusive Pokemon for Diamond and Pearl
I'm getting Diamond because the Pokemon available suit my style better (Mixed sweeping, broad range of super-effectiveness). Otherwise, not too much of a difference.

I would suggest Emerald, even though I haven't played it. I have played through LeafGreen, and if you were a fan of the original 150, this game will definitely surprise you. It's like Red with replay value. That's my suggestion.

if you're seriously considering playing pokemon again, i would wait for the new ones. More gameplay features is never a bad thing. You could argue about new pokemon though...
