I doubt you guys know about this, but recently there's been a lot of stories about violence in football.

I wanted to know if this sort of thing occurs a lot in the sports you watch. I don't see things like this occuring in Rugby or stuff like that, so I wondered if it happened in the sports you guys watch.

Australia-wise, we tend to have a lot of conflicts between nationalities, and riots occasionally break out at sporting events. You might remember this a while back.

I'm surprised there'd be trouble at a tennis tournament. Doesn't seem like the type of sport for it.
Rioting only seems to occur in away matches in football over here. There aren't many on British soil anymore. There used to be quite a few in the 80's though.

I was actually at that tournament the day before. I wouldn't have thought anything like that could have happened. There were also a lot of claims about guys going round with camera phones and 'upskirting'. More disorderly conduct than violence anyway.

Reading in the papers about huge fights with metal poles and torches at a football match or something is almost an every-day thing here. The problem is that Belgrade(the city I live in) has so many different "gangs" of fans, and they all fight each other. I've never been in one of these large brawls since I'm not much of a sports fan, but some of my best friends are in these groups, so it's inevitable for me to get into some smaller fights when I'm defending them. It's really quite stupid.

I guy was killed in a rugby fight... He died and no one knows how - he wasn't even fatally injured or anything... He was just knocked out...

Really? That's pretty sad. It can happen though. When you say a Rugby fight, do you mean on the pitch or in the crowd?
I'd be surprised if it was on the pitch as, despite how it may look, rugby players really start fights in the way a footballer might.

Baseball's really the only sport I pay much attention to. Nothing really all that violent lately >.>
