Need Help: Woodworking Project Details Inside

So, I need suggestions. I have a fairly decent amount of wood available (2 boards of 17 feet by 1 foot wood, 1/2"" thick). Thanks for any help.
(btw, examples of some projects last term include things like a foosball table, cabinets, jewlery boxes, etc. but those are relatively small projects, and this one is expected to be bigger, or at least more elaborate).

Now seriously, you should make a pool table. And Cue sticks to match. That'd be cool.

Unless someone could find me a simple design for a pool table, that one I won't be able to do, as students have attempted it in the past, and it's simply too elaborate to make (again, lab teacher's restrictions, not my own).

(Foosball table? Are people in America so reluctant to call soccer by it's real name that they need to change one letter in it to make themselves feel better? :D )

As for pool table, I'd suggest against it. Firstly, it'd just have to be a simple snooker table style one (With nets under each hole to catch the balls), as creating a proper one with all the internal mechanisms would be hard; and therefore may nto fulfill the criteria of being complicated enough. Secondly, you'd have to get the actual dimensions of a pool table and scale it down. Depending on the size and shape of your wood, it could end up being a pretty small table. Plus you'd have to cover it in cloth etc.

I was definitely considering all those projects, but they're all fairly "typical" and cliched.

This is a great, unique idea, exactly what I was going for.
In addition to WW's suggestion, I was considering making a wooden version of Pong. (bear with me here, as I'll explain the design).
We have a generally large piece of square wood. On either side, say a few inches from the edge, two slits ("trenches") will be created. Now, in them I'll place two small pieces of rectangular wood, so that they can slide along the path of the slit, but not in any other motion (essentially, just moving horizontally). A little "hinge" on top would allow the top part of the wood to bend forward - hitting a small ball back and forth between players (hence, Pong).
... eh, I like Wiflewood's suggestion better, simpler and cleaner. :D
Any other suggestions/comments?

Yeah, I definitely agree. I modified the design that Mr. T posted, so instead I'm making a small bedside table that rotates.
Thanks again everyone, I appreciate it.
