I just bought the most expensive used game I have ever seen. It's a PS2 fighting game. It's sticker price is at 69.99. Since I work at Gamestop I got a huge discount, but still payed out 57 dollars.
Marvel vs. Capcom 2. This is one of the rarest games to find at a Gamestop. It was soo worth it.

omfg. I love that game! Me and my friends played this game to death. It surely was worth the $50 US, but $70? Don't know.
All I know, this game kicked arse, and was one my favourite fighting games in the PS2 era.

This one you mean? It is pretty expensive for something released back in 2002.

I've never bought even one used game. When I was looking for Double Dash all over Liverpool, I found a ton of used copies, but I just kept searching all day for a fresh one.

About 70% of my game collection is used. As long as it works, it don't really matter, and EB is good at makeing sure they only sell quality used games. The most expensive used game I have bought was Disgaea, at $40.

yup. I always get used games, especially my GC games. Melee was the only fresh game I had, and that's because I got my copy with my GC x.x
Other than that, most of my PS2 games were fresh =)

I got a mix of new and used. Most of my PS2 games are used actually.
I didn't think I would have to unlock almost all the characters I used. @.@

Most of my games are new, but I've got some fresh ones as well. All of my GC titles were new, same with the DS ones, but I've got a used copy of LoZ: 4 Swords, GS2:TLA (also have a new copy of this), GS1, Pokemon Crystal, Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Gold, Pokemon Sapphire (Ruby was new, bought Sapphire from a friend), and I think that's it. I RARELY play any of my pokemon games nowadays.

Honestly, I wouldn't pay more than $30 for a used game. Probably not even that. I'd go as high as $50 for a new one, but that's kinda pushing it. There comes a time when you just have to draw a line. 'Course for Brawl, I might go as high as $70. ;D

Wow, you're obsessed with Smash Bros. Although Melee is probably my all-time favorite game, I doubt Brawl will be very different and much better from it, so that's why I haven't got my hopes up too high for Brawl. It'll be a great game, yes, but unless they actually say they managed online play or/and a cool new control scheme this'll just be an upgraded Melee.

I'm talking about this here because I don't want to visit the Smash Bros. thread anymore... :P

The price of a used game generally depends on its recent-ness and its actual quality. You can find used games within days of their release, and they usually aren't that cheap.

I buy a lot of used titles, but the last one I got was a great deal, Madden 07 for $30 (about $27 American) I bought it while the game was still used and it hasn't given me any problems.

Oblivion. When I bought it, and after I bought it. I found the last Pre-Order version in EBGames and bought it. And I guess if you add Mehrunes' Razor, Spell Tomes, Knights of the Nine, Frostcrag Tower, Dunborrow Cave (Can't remember the add-on name), Deepscorn Hollow and Shivering Isles, it's probably a good....$150+?

On principle, if a used game is only a few dollars off from the full price of the new game, I just go for the newer game. An example is when I bought Tales of Symphonia; 16.99 used, 19.99 new.

I got the newer one, simply because I'm actually contributing to game sales - I think it's a reasonable trade-off, and fair.

Although not used, the most expensive game I have seen recently is the Legendary Edition of Halo 3, something like $130 or so. And a friend of mine plans to by that version. *sigh* Oh well, it's his money to waste.

I dont tend to buy games from stores, unless they're popular, therefor I know they would be there, like NSMB for DS.

I'll buy a used game online only if a) It's not in stock new or :) If it's not a huge title ( I wouldn't buy Brawl used, but for say Meteos, I would) or c) It's considerably cheaper than the new one ( But not for big games like Brawl ect.)

Anything from Atlus from 2002 and back or so. Tactics Ogre, Disgaea, Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis, etc.

Although they made a re-release of Disgaea, which was awfully generous...

I think Valkyrie Profile also is selling for a hefty amount. Lots of Square games before Square-Enix and not Final Fantasy are getting harder and harder to find.

                                              Sorry for the slight necropost.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is rare?! ****, that piece of crap has been in my collection for aeons. Also, that's nowhere near the most expensive pre-owned game out there. Ever heard of a game called Steel Battalion, it was released in limited quantities and the game itself cost over £100 on release because it came with a huge controller to pilot your mecha. People were buying the game for £100 and selling it on Ebay for £300, they never made more copies due to the expensive nature of the controller so they are and always will be rare (and expensive).

What loser would pay that much money for a game. Really, I'd love to smack around the dumbass who did that for a hobby.

The most expensive used game I've seen was a Mint condition Secret of Mana on Ebay, with the box, manual, everything for $150Aud. I still have my copy of the game, just the cartidge and it's easily worth $50 Aud, I checked :(
