I doubt that it's a joke. And now thanks to that, I can't use even Lime Wire anymore. At least as long as it isn't a joke.

Toasty, using Limewire has been illegal ever since it was released. If you've been using it happily for the past year then don't stop now just because of this.
Besides, if its just the odd track here and there then I doubt the US government are going to waste time and resources hunting you down and fining you. They've got bigger fish to fry.

Supposedly, the website that Split linked you to was a Illegal Music downloading website that has been shut down and replaced with the notice that It is illegal, and "Your IP Address has now been logged".
Basically, Split has interpreted the page to be saying: "Ha! you came to this illegal download website hoping to download some illegal music, but its been shut down and we logged your IP and know who you are!"

Bwahah, visiting a site is perfectly legal. I was telling Split that earlier. It's just a scare tactic, they can't do **** to you.
