Bumped so I can persuade Tom to get the game. Get it you slag! Fear is not a reason for you not to own this game

Geez, BioShock isn't even that scary. It's DISTURBING and CREEPY and sometimes you might get STARTLED but it shouldn't make you lose sleep.

Or are British people easily frightened or something? 'Cause I recall you saying you were avoiding playing because you were scared, Caael. ;)

I've said it before, it's hype-fear. You hear so much about a game being scary, people saying it's so scary that you make it more scary than it actually is. When I first played it, I was expecting it to be the most terrifying thing ever, so I made it scary for myself because thats what i was expecting. I'm fine playing now though.

But come on, you have to admit that those plaster covered splicers in fort frolic are creepy, especially when they come to life.

I heard it was supposed to be scarry too. That was why I was rather dissapointed when I played the game.

I thought the instances with character shadows on the wall were creepy.

Heck, it was plenty creepy hearing the incoherent banter of splicers when you couldn't see them and weren't sure where they were.

Fort Frolic is probobly the scariest part of the game. I half expected all those statues to come to life and attack me.

But as long as I had my shotgun I knew I was ok ;)

I guess it would be scarier if I wasn't playing it on a 17" monitor while on MSN and listening to music etc.

The creepiest thing for me was in Hephaestus point and I walked into a room, got halfway through and the lights went out. Slowly walked through, and I heard a manic laugh from somewhere. The lights came back on and there were loads of corpses strewn around, and to top it all off, when I reached the door some of them got up and started attacking me.

They do, when you use the Power to the People machine in the Wine shop cellar. It was horrible when I went down into the cellar; it was flooded and there was this plaster splicer posed in the corner. I use the PttP machine, I turn around and there's this Splicer rushing towards me. I've never jumped so much in my life.

By the way, with the BioShock DLC... well, you remember where towards the beginning of the game, I forget the "level's" name, there's the dentist office? And when you stepped in one and went towards the counter to pick up the stuff on it, the lights would go out and then turn back on, and when you turned around there'd be a guy in a dentists outfit holding a section of pipe, about to attack you?

The lights don't go out anymore with the DLC. The room gets filled with mist so you can't see at all instead, and then goes away suddenly. DDDD: It's so much less scarier.

I dont remember that part. I remember picking up the shotgun and the lights going out, and also in the morgue i saw a shadow on the wall and the lights went out, but no dentist with pipe.

Oh, the level is called Medical Pavillion.

Gah, that must have been one of the PttPs I missed. That, or I just didn't see the Splicer before I used it.

I always thought that was the collest part. Too bad you don't get their weapons. Imagine blowing splicers to peices with a rivet gun.

That would be awesome. I've seen videos of the final fight and it looks painfully easy. You can finish it in less than a minute with the grenade launcher, killing all 3 forms with a different type of ammo from it ( the video I saw used a full clip of frag to take out the first form, a full clip of proxy for the second and a full clip of heatseeking for the 3rd form)
