That's an easy one. That's just how their universe is. That's a great catch-all answer for writers and designers when they create a new game world. They're the gods of Sonic's world and that's how they made it. Simple as that. They never turned into anything. That's just how they are, and how they always were. If you watched Sonic X on TV last season it makes a little more sense.

I've noticed that too. (They're also about 80% of the games available at Wal Mart.) Its likely because they have to condense the design process. They have to wait until the movie is finished before they can start working on the game because the movie is what the game is based on. Then they have to finish it quickly to get it released and make a quick buck before the popularity of the movie dies down. That's a big difference from regular games, which can take a year or more from start to finish. At a conceptual level, it's because movie and TV-based games are made to capitalize on a surge in popularity for a franchise that accompanies a movie release. Other games are made just as they are, and the selling point is that it's a great game, "not OMG it has Spiderman in it!"

And I believe that truly great games can create a celebrity all their own.

Something I've never understood is how pokemon are supposed to fit in those little balls. The cartoon gives the answer that they all turn into red laser beams and get pulled in, but that's just ridiculous.

My theory is that monsters are a lot like pinatas. Yeah, Mecha-Ridley may as well have had a giant off button, but that was one of the many things that I attribute to space pirate retardedness. Sometimes it can be attributed to your equipment identifying a target, or some random old man telling you the baddie's weakness, but others, the dude just has a huge bullseye on him daring you to shoot it. Maybe it's an arrogance thing where the guy is all "I'm so awesome that even if I leave this one weak spot completely unprotected and have it glowing red with airport running lights around it I still can't be defeated!" Then of course there's the simple fact that if a boss had no weaknesses he would be invincible...
