I made this topic because I was thinking about the Life topic. I was wondering what you people have to say about the life after death. Reincarnation, heaven/hell, limbo, or just plain rotting in a grave.

My view is that after one dies, they should have a proper burial. When the time comes, there will be a Judgement Day where the world will collapse and everyone will be resurrected . Everyone will then be brought up before God and will receive their verdict based upon how they lived their life on the Earth. Everyone will be sent to Heaven or Hell based on their actions. I do not believe in reincarnation.

These are just my views, and I do not care if you think they sound ridiculous. NO FLAMING, ANGERING, OR PUTTING DOWN OTHER PEOPLE"S BELIEFS.

We rot in the ground. Yay.
What? Did you expect something philosophical from me? No.

Personaly, regardless of whether the is a heaven or hell, and since I don't do the whole religion thing I don't think there is, I'll live my life to the fullest. If there is a heaven and hell, I don't really care where I would go, if the way I live my life, saving my money, eating heartily, lounging about all day on the net, and taking pride in my work, lans me in hell, so be it. I won't let the fear of future destination be the guide to my actions.

For me, we humans have three parts.
            The body, mind and spirit.

When we die, like previous posters said we rot. That's why I have already told my close ones that I want my body to be either cremated or donated to science. I surely do not want any fancy funeral. It's a waste of money imo.
Anyway, the mind ceases to exist when the body dies, but the spirit is transformed. I have still haven't made up on my mind on what really happens to the spirit... Muslim, Christian and Buddhist teachings all have reasonable answers.

When we die we are dead.

I don't spend a lot of time thinking about death. Why would I? I'm too busy being alive. I'm young, my life isn't being threatened (as far as I know) so thinking about such things seems pointless. I'll think about death when someone is holding a gun to my face point-blank.

And you all should know I'm not particularly spiritual. I don't think about these things.

Agreed with WD and Caael. Personally, I wouldn't like to live again after death. All people wish they could live for ever and ever without dying, but I don't understand why? I think around 70-80 years of life is more than enough.

But if Heaven and Hell do exist I'm seriously gonna be pissed off at God is he sends me to Hell. >

I would like to go to heaven, but if it was real, I wouldn't be going there. I dont believe in it, but I like the concept.

I'd like to hang around as a ghost for a while, just to see what people think of me, haunt the people who I didn't like, and visit places I never got the chance to as a human. Maybe the inside of a volcano, under the sea, the ice caps. Extreme places that aren't possible for humans. I wouldn't leave earth though. Maybe a year or two as a ghost, then pass on completely.

Despite my highly scientific perception of life, I still feel that there must be more to consciouisness than the means by which it exsists. That's as far into detail as I really go for them most part. I could expound, but it would all follow that basic line.

I personally think that what I do in this world will affect me in the Afterlife. I don't want to be screwed and have to live a torturous afterlife in hell. That's why I closely follow the rules of my religion and think twice before I do anything. I don't believe science has an answer for everything.

An eternal sleep isn't an accurate way to my feelings. An eternal sleep implies dreaming and therefore a still living (kind of) consciousness. I think that when you're dead... you no longer exist. No conscious, you're just a lump of protein. Your bones are what's left.

Why would I want to exist for eternity anyway? Either physically or spiritually? As Aqua says, one lifetime is enough for me.

This is actually something I've thought about a lot, and I still don't have the answer. I believe in God, Heaven/Hell, the Abrahamic prophets, etc. but somehow, as a "critic" of religion, I've never been satisfied with the concept of eternal life. I believe there is definitely something after death (I'm a big proponent of that - then again, I would have to be because I'm religious) - but living forever isn't something I can grasp... even living with all the comforts and happiness in the world (heaven) isn't something I'm satisfied with - it feels almost forced or not as "humanly living" if everything around you is perfect, and it's that way forever.

So, I don't know how to describe it, that was probably confusing. All I'm saying is that, "technically", I believe in the concept of heaven/hell and all that, but what exactly that entails or actually is, I'm not sure.

I think that when you're dead... you no longer exist. No conscious, you're just a lump of protein. Your bones are what's left.

I'm very curious to see what happens after death. In a way, I would like to day, but not now. When i've lived my life to the full, done everything I wanted to in life, then i'll lay back and let old age/illness take me away. I really dont know what will happen once i'm dead.

Half of me believes that when you die, you go to another world, that looks exaclty like ours, but whatever you think, it can happen. If you want 10 Big Macs, 10 Big Macs appear. If you want Jessica Alba, she appears.

The other half of me, jsut believes you are dead, once you die, you jsut cease to exist.

I hope though, that it is the first half.

Rot. I figure that we come from nothing, so when we die, we return to the nothingness. That's a fairly bleak outlook, but I see it as the most logical.

Part of me thinks that once you die that's it. It's the only logical, reasonable result given the way life seems to have formed.

However another part of me wants to believe that there's more and coupled with the feelings of "deja-vu" we sometimes get I have to believe in some small part in reincarnation.

As me111 said above its the only question that we will never, ever know the answer to.

If there is a heaven and hell, I don't really care where I would go, if the way I live my life, saving my money, eating heartily, lounging about all day on the net, and taking pride in my work, lans me in hell, so be it. I won't let the fear of future destination be the guide to my actions.

                                                                  I'm exactly the opposite :o

I live my life cautiously, though obviously I mess up some times, because I'm concentrated on the reward in heaven after life. I don't believe that good deeds send you to heaven, only Jesus does. But I do believe that if you plan to go there, it's only courteous to give back as much of your life as possible as a way to thank Him for saving you.

At this point I'd rather not even think about death at all. I know that it's around the corner, lurker for an opportunity to strike, but I simply neglect it. Life is short in my opinion, thus I live it to the fullest. I never think about death. When I will die, I'll see what happens. Whether I rot, reincarnate, go to heaven of linger as a ghost... It doesnt matter as long as I did my part in life.

One experience in particular: It was about August 26th 2006, and my friend was on her moped going to babysit, when a car came around the corner too fast and hit her. She was airlifted to the hospital but it was too late, she had already died. After her death, my entire school went into a kind of depression, but especially her mother. Her mother loved her so much, and i feared that her mom would go into a severe depression, But one day she didnt get sad. She became happier and i even saw her smile. No one knows what happend, not even the doctors who her mother had been seeing knew what happend.

I believe that She and her mom had a moment, even though the daughter died. Where else could the daughter be but in heaven? Though I have always lived cautiously, i will never forget that my friend is up in heaven watchin over me.
