    Smith: 'Hitler was a good person'

    Really, he never makes any quote like that in the article itself. Not even a completely out of context one. Is this what journalism has been reduced to? Making up quotes for a shocking headline?

      To a certain extent I agree with him. Hitler was a brilliant man and did many great things for Germany, and aknowledging that does not make you a supporter of genocide or antisemitism or any of the other bad things he did later on.

        ^ Same.

        I remember reading an article, maybe two weeks ago in my local newspaper that defamed numerous celebrities (including Alec Baldwin and Britney Spears) with "letters" that were "sent" to them. I'll see if I can find it on the internet.

          On a side note, if we had let him take over the world, we'd have a freaking awesome super fast highway running all around Europe, Asia, and America. But we wouldn't be able to use it because we'd be stuck in concentration camps. D;

          He did good stuff, like makeing afordable cars for the germans (VolksWagen), and makeing the Autobahn, but he also killed a bunch of people, so I guess that makes it even. :P

              I saw that article before. It seems pretty poor to make Will Smith seem like a Nazi supporter from a quote like that. It's the sort of rubbish the Daily Mail would print.

                Will Smith is 39!
                I don't see why they're bashing Will Smith, I did 3 terms on German history this year from the end of WWI to the end of the Genocide, Hitler did do many great things for Germany, and he was a very powerful speaker and smart individual. He just had some really evil ideas and actions.

                      I don't know. Somehow I seriously doubt that these celebrities sent a mostly local paper these letters.

                        Although that is more or less what they all think, I doubt that any one of them is dumb enough to out it on paper. And even if they are, their publicist would stop them.

                            Yeah, but they have such expensive lawyers they probably wouldn't get anything out of it. Plus there are way to many local papers and blogs and such to pin them all down with a gavel.

                                Journalists make a living out of taking a bad situation and making it seem a lot worse. You have to take a lot of what you see and read as unreliable.
                                That's my belief anyway.

                                    It's unfortunate that what was "freedom of speech" has become "freedom of slander and libel" President John Quincy Adams tried to stop the press from spreading libel during the Sedition Act, but it only lasted for a short while and lent him much unpopularity

                                    Y'know, with all the gossip today, I don't waste my time reading newspapers or magazines, because what's the use? Most of it today is someone's lame opinion, only writing in a newspaper/magazine/blog/etc because they had neither brains or talent enough to do something else with their lives. Truly talented and passionate Journalists are few and far between these days.
