Well everybody knows that Square is the king of RPG's, so I thought I'd make a topic to talk about all your favourite(and least favourite) Square games.

2 games that very little people know about, but were great, were Threads Of Fate and Engheirz for PS1

ToF was an Action RPG, that let you choose if you wanted to paly as a guy or a girl. It was a great game, but never really got alot of press because it was around the time of FF7 and 8, and was greatly overshadowed by those two games.

Engheirz was a fighting game, that let you fight as original fighters, and as characters from FF7. I don't care what anybdoy says, this was fun fighting game, with and without the FF7 characters.

I've got six titles by Square: KH, KHCOM, KH2, FFX, FFXII and FFTA.

I have FF1-12, in some fashion, Legend Of Mana, Chrono Cross and Trigger, Tales Of Fate, Engheirz, KH1 and 2 FFT and FFTA, and many games I can't remember.

Oh and then for Enix DW 1-3.

SE's best days are definately behind them, all they care about these days is re-releases and spin offs, 90'% of which involving the Final Fantasy license

Did I say great? No. I said it was a fun game.

Oh ok maybe I did in my first line. Well fine, to clear things up, it is NOT a grat game, but it was fun.

My experiences with Square have been mainly good. FF, Kingdom Hearts, even Dragonquest was fun.

I disliked the orginal Dragon Warrior(or Quest, whatever you would like to call it), and somewhat enjoyed the second, but the third is the one that really got me into the series.

I must admit that I've only played the most recent game on PS2, but it was entertaining. Not FF quality but it didn't run too far from their tried and tested RPG formula.

I jsut dislike how you don't get to see the characters during the fights. That is the main thing that ticks me off abotu the DW(Q) games.

I disliked some of the voices in the game, especially the one for the king. The one who sounded like Ray Winstone was funny though.

I wish they had released the FF7 remake for the PS3. The graphics were amazing, and it would get the game out to an audience that missed it completely.

I'm not so sure. Remakes have a tendancy to be poorer than the original. Would they really be able to do all the events from the game in sugh high definition?

Wasn't crazy about the FF3 remake either (I didn't play the original). It was okay I guess. It was pretty for a handheld and that was about it.

I've heard some beg to differ, but like I said, I can't have an opinion on it when I haven't played the original. I like Golden Sun more, for what it's worth. :D

I think that Square was better of as Square Soft but still, Square-Enix is great. Favourite games would be FFX and the oldschool Secret of Mana (the rest of the Mana series is terrible, although the one for Ps2 (Dawn of Mana?) has some promise, will play more of that one day)

Golden Sun is definetly better than the orginal 3 FF's, well in my opinion.

I liked 7-10 better than GS though.

@Watch-The Mana game for PS1 was good. Legend Of mana I believe.

it's little known but Enix is actually the dominant company, as they purchased a very troubled Squaresoft, its merely reputation that makes people think Square are dominant.

Final Fantasy VI gets no where near the respect it deserves from the ps1 generation

I didn't give it much respect until I got on GBA. I have to admit that I only bought it cause I saw it in the shops one day, but damn is it good! Seriously it's the best FF of the pre-playstation era and ranks pretty highly overall. I'd place it second in my list.

Basically for the Mana series, you either love it, or you hate it, there is no in between.

Valkryie Profile 2 was also a very good Squaresoft game that I own, or atleast, I think it's a Square game.

I hear the original Mana game was great but it hasn't achieved the same level of greatness.
I'd like to play Chrono Trigger. It looks so good, but I've never had the chance. I'm hoping for a remake in some form.

Well the sequel was Chrono Cross, and it was on par, if not better, than Trigger. But like I said abotu the Hack games, you will be able to understand the story, if you just play Cross, but a couple plot points will make you go "wtf" because they have to do with things in Trigger.

They are both great games.

I've always bee a guy who plays through the game in a chronological order. I'd do the same here.

But that's the thing, they aren't really part of the same series. It's hard to explain. I'll explain it like I have .Hack.

In the original Hack series, you play as Kite, and you're friend is in a coma because of the MMORPG, so you play through the 4 games, trying to find otu what is gonig on in the game, and destroy it. Now in Hack GU, it is the same MMORPG, but versino 2, because the orginal got destroyed by the company because of "virus's", and now in the new game, the same thnigs are happening, but the main badguy is the same cahracter in the orginal Hack series, and his friend who was in a coma in the orginla is also a guy you face against, and a couple other peopel from the orginal Hack series. Now if you didn't play the orginal series, you would understand the story, and jsut think those peopel were badguys, but if you palyed the orginal you understand who they ard

That's how Cross is, some things from Trigger appear, but you will still understand the plot if you don't paly Cross. It's not a true sequel, like FFX-2 was, but it's not it's own game.

Very true, none of the GBA or DS Mana series have been worthwhile, I can hardly comment on the Ps1 game because I haven't played it, nor the Ps2 game because I have played enough of it (although it shows promise). You absolutely must play Secret of Mana though, it's a game so good it still fetches about $80AUD on eBay.

dont like Secret of Mana, its sooo damn unforgiving, mess up and your dead. the sequrls were poo though, partly because the AI programmers were colossal morons

the originsl Valkyrie Profile was brilliant and vastly underrated

really good story (kinda justifies the second disc), great battle sytem and general gameplay experience, you get to punch things with robots! :P

My Favorite would have to be Legend of Dragoon. Even though it is a PS1 game, it has a very addictive battle system that I like, despite the weird and awkward english dialog translation. And also, this game's music is full of WIN~<3

I also Like Star Ocean: Till the end of Time and I enjoy VP2 very much. Chrono Cross is something I played but never finished. I need to find that PS1 disk and play it. I am working on Final Fantasy Tactics the PS1 version. Man FFT is hard! but I <3 it.

I personally want a FFVII redone in PS3 graphics. I mean my all time favorite Sephiroth is in it~ but I also wish that they would come up with a not so hard game that can be challenging but not. I had difficult time to play FFXII because I didn't lvl enough.

Legend of Draggon was alright, battle system was pants, plot was too dragged out but otherwise pretty good, oh wait they're the key elements to an RPG, my mistake it sucked

The battle system was fun. The attacking with the buttons was really good. And turning into Dragoons was awsome. The plot could have fit on 3 discs, ya, but it was still a good game overall.

the battle system was good for the first 100 battles then it became tedious, you needed the utmost concentration to deal with the little ****s you just wanted to mash Attack to get rid of

I found it fun the entire time. It added more strategy to the battles.

Chrono Trigger was the first RPG I ever finished, and I loved it from start till end.
Final Fantasy too of course, I really liked FFTA.

FFT was, in my opinion, a billiong times better than FFTA. Not that FFTA was bad game, but FFT was just better. Plus Cloud=win.
