think i covered all the major bases with that list
Have to say my favourites are the comedies (which often contain a chunk of school life) with favourites including Azumanga Daioh, Excel Saga, Lucky Star, Sayanara Zetsubou Sensei, Seto no Hanayome etc.
and some help with terms
Shonen: long, formulaic, usually dragged out action series. examples: Bleach, Naruto, Dragonball Z
Shojou Ai: stronger form of romance, more in depth, can cover Yaoi/Yuri aswell
Ecchi: perverted but lacking the strength to be classed as hentai, usually fanservice galore

I voted action, but I like comedy too. Most of the action manga and anime I have also has a fair sprinkling of comedy, so, yeah.

Probably "Action/Shonen". Naruto, Bleach, FMA, Yugioh all fit in this category right?
But then, Lucky Star is dah pwn. Maybe I should have voted for comedy.

What does One Piece count as? Cause that's the only legitimate anime I've watched.

I have a fairly limited scope in anime (only legitimitally watch(ed) Bleach, Naruto/Shippuuden, DBZ, Gundam Wing/Endless Waltz, Digimon, Full Metal Panic, soon to be .hack//sign, One Piece, and FMA). Out of all of them, I enjoyed watching Gundam Wing the most, and .hack//sign seems like another Anime I'll enjoy very much.
So probably the sci-fi/mecha genre for me. But adventure (Bleach/Naruto) come a close second! Perhaps that's under 'fantasy'?

Gundam Wing was one confusing anime. I still have no idea what the thing is about.
