GSW is not currently working at the moment. Max is working on it. We don't have a release date, but even if we did, you could expect it to get pushed back more than Advent Children.

hmm i see, is it not working because of bugs or because of an update?

Major overhaul of the game, if I'm correct.

GSW isn't finished. The previous releases of the games were tests of Max's server.

That was for a map-making contest. Something like if Max saw a map he liked, he might use it or take some ideas of from it to make the GSW town better.

You can't get it anymore though. I don't have it myself anymore.

Actually you can still get it here:

                http://gsw.goldensun-syndicate.net/downloa..._Map_Editor.zip

Keep in mind this editor is 3 years old, and I'm sure that there's been some major updates to GSW and the editor would have a lot more stuff in it if it were re-released.

                      lol

Anyway, GSW isn't an MMO or anything like that (thank god XD). It's like a virtual chat thingy of sorts. It'll have some minigames, and you'll be able to chat with people. Possibly some battle related arena thing in the future, though that may or may not be incorperated.

And I remember that editor. I found a little while after I joined, and decided to fool around with it for fun. My map sucked compared to the others though. XD

Please note that that map editor was for a previous incarnation of the game, and anything made with it will most likely not be usable for the next incarnation. GSW is back in the design phase, as we are rearchitecturing it and rewriting most of the engine and higher-level code. We've currently been spending resources exploring the real GS games' engines, and ripping sprites (thanks Atrius!), and doing research. This summer we should start to have more public news for you all.

Ahh yes i know this Atrius you speak of. he seems to be a very handy guy to have around when it comes to the grunt work.

need any more tiles ripped? i haven't ripped tiles before but could give it a shot if it meant helping a Fan Game Golden Sun game awesome

and tiles could be opened up in photoshop and given a recolor to make new looking places, if you have any tilesheets handy i could see if i could do something there.

I thought I recognized your name, I can't believe I didn't realize who you were sooner. I guess it's because it doesn't have 90 on the end of it.

Actually I was just about to move on to figuring out the tileset data format that Golden Sun uses, after that it won't be too difficult to rig something up to rip them all straight from the game.

Not to be completely off topic, that editors window is taller than my screen can fit o_O I don't think 1024x768 resolution monitors are obsolete quite yet, I hope you didn't plan on making the game's window that large.

ahh yes MaxiPower was stolen from me noooooooooooooo anyway if that editor is considered obstalete, a smaller resolution wouldn't be to hard to implement on a newer game/version. maybe you could change your screen resolution on your Monitar?

Yes, we discovered that problem when we first released it (Eljo and I both run high resolution screens), and the next one will be sure to take that into consideration. The last versions of GSW were a bit below 800x600 to fit on those resolution screens, but the map editor needed to be larger (obviously) so that we could have the additional pixels for the actual tools.
