So, I guess there's been a problem with hackers redirecting IE users to virus-ridden sites. Discuss.

No surprise there. Silly little IE users. Trix is for Firefox users.

Apparently the hole's been there since IE7 was released, and if you visit one of the 10,000 affected sites it pretty much gives them total control over your system.

A patch came out a few hours ago, getting it now.

Clicking a link with the middle mouse button or CTRL + click will open the link in a new tab

10,000 infected sites? What is that, like, .00000001%of teh intarnets?

Chances are that if you're not looking for porno, you're perfectly safe, because I'd be safe in assuming that 90% of those 10,000 are pr0nz.

ANYWAY. I'm a fascist conservative ******* that doesn't like change. Therefore, Firefox can suck mah bawls.

....unless I'm using Linux. Then FF is pretty much the only way to go, 'cause everything else sucks/doesn't work.

Well it's affected at least two million computers, so...

That's because at least two million computers were looking at pr0n.

Or were being used by incredibly stupid people.

Only a retarded hacker wouldn't use a porn site as the base. They're one of the most traffic'd types of sites. People who visit porn sites on a regular basis have a greater risk of infecting their computer with a virus than those that don't.

If I wanted to spread a trojan I'd use placeholder sites, they probably get way more traffic.

Do you realise how much traffic porn sites get? The only thing outpacing them are social networking sites, and this is only recently.

That's only the popular ones. If a hacker tried to make a porn site it would barely get any traffic, but make a page with a copyrighted term or commonly-used word as the domain and bam, instant hits.

They also register domains with typos of popular sites. Like "facbook" or something along those lines. It's a popular keylogging technique =\

The hole was fixed a while ago (not very long after the discovery of it.

And IE is chock full of holes. Why do you thnk Microsoft is constanly releasing updates for it?

I only still use IE because I'm a stubborn capitalistic *******.

Let me change my statement. "Because I'm a stubborn conservative *******"

That would make the Wii a liberal, the 360 a flip flopping "Maverick" (avatars? Seriously? Do you even know how far you're pushing the "copyright infringement" law?), and the PS3 a conservative who finally went back to the roots (no more sixaxis).

Now enough about politics. This topic is about how much IE sucks, and how fascist I can get without reverting back to IE5.
