I need primary sources, i.e. articles written in 1914 about the war/etc.

    I can't find any. D:

      Germany lost.

We used to have a book with loads of them when I still had history. Anyways.

But since you probably need originals, go to the historical library and look for them or something. Maybe some university published a few on internet, they tend to do that. There are few links in the wiki to some manuscripts as well (Paul Johnson)

Archive.org is your friend. It probably links to project Gutenberg as well, so they're your friend too.

Sorry, you're one World War too early for me to help you out.

Need more clarification Toasty, are you analyzing the primary sources themselves or do you just need examples to place it in a bigger context of WWI?

Also, look up the Christmas truce of 1914, when German and English troops agreed to a temporary ceasefire, stopped fighting, met and drank together, and even played a game of football. It's really quite a beautiful tale.

I read about this a couple years ago in my history class, and then saw a few vidoes about it. It is pretty interesting. Sad at the same time, because the very next day they picked their guns up and resumed killing each other. I also remember something being said about how German military leaders took measures to make sure it never happened again.

I just need refrences for an essay, and at least two need to be primary sources. Something geared towards the effect of nationalism on the war would be nice.

You really haven't provided enough information about what you're looking for. I studied WWI this year and got pretty good marks for it in my exam.

                HSC Exam 07
                HSC Exam 06
                HSC Exam 05

Those should have some sources on various stuff, 08 is yet to come out.
You spoke of Nationalisation, WWI was the first instance of Total War, the complete involvement of a nation in the war.
                Total War - Wikipedia
Also many of the major military leaders of WWI on either side wrote memoirs about decisions, Schiefflin Plan etc.

I've heard about that so many times, yet when we actually studied WWI in history it was only mentioned briefly. I always found that surprising.

I had exam questions on it, it relates pretty well to the changing attitudes throughout the war and how they used things like hatred in propaganda.

I think the leaders on both sides started killing their own men =|
