Surely someone here knows of a good one. I download alot of tv shows and movies to stream through my 360, but some of my torrents are mp4 and that won't work on my Xbox. All the converters I use always watermark the image or just don't work.

This is the one I use personally, watch. It doesn't reduce quality at all even though converting times can be ridiculously long. Good luck!

Media Coder and SUPER are both good, free tools.

They're far from simple though. Not that it's impossible to use them, but it's not as easy as "select the file and press convert".

SUPER's website makes it an incredible pain in the ass to find the download link, so I'll save you the hedache and give it to you here.

        SUPER

        Here's media coder as well.
        Media Coder

If you've got a 64-bit operating system, I'd highly suggest getting the 64-bit update, which converts the program from 32-bit to 64-bit.
Be careful though, sometimes it doesn't work. If it ends up screwing media coder over, then just un-install media coder and re-install it.

Shut the hell up Skidz. You don't even know what you're talking about.

Both of those programs are legal, and free. There isn't a law against converting one video format to another.

Torrenting stuff is illegal; just like gay marriage :P

Yea because I can buy TV episodes mid season before they come on TV in Australia. Not saying that's all I torrent but that's most of it.
And if you can't leave discussions in the topic they belong in it shows how trivial you are.

What Toasty said, these are legal programs.

Thanks to SoT and Toasty for your help.

Wow Tim, that was helpful. Because not only did SoT and Toasty already help but I hadn't already used Google and releases most of the results gave me trial programs that are crap and leave watermarks.

You can get sites that do it online for you, just upload a file, choose what you're converting from and to, it converts it on the site and then you download it there and then.

                            It's really not hard.

Most of those sites produce files with horrible quality, leave watermarks, take forever, or have very restricting options as far as what you can convert to and from.

Or any combination of the above.

A good freeware app wins any day.
