The dark recesses of your vision suddenly come to light as your helmet synch with your armor. You watch as your suit quickly runs through and displays diagnostics reports on your HUD. The results fade into an armoured figure, who's window shrinks and moves off to the side of your vision. Next came the ammo counter, the numbers quickly counting up to 25, and then it too minimizes and moves this time to the bottom of your vision.
Vox tests, light tests, Audio tests, Coms tests. Test by test, system by ancient system, your Power Armour tells you it is ready. Ready to kill and smite and destroy in the glorious name of the Emperor of Mankind.
Your eyes look past the tiny screens arrayed before you. Inside Drop Pod #7, your Battle-brothers go through their own preparations. The names of your squadmates flash beside them, provided by your armour's Machine Spirit. Closest to you are your fellow 'rookies': Brothers Daniel, Kris, Arthurios and Geoffrey. On the other side of the circular Pod are the Devastator Team's seasoned members: Brother-Sergeant Trojus and Brothers Alaric, Brutus, Cackilos and Roderick.
The Drop Pod's heavy restraints suddenly fall onto your shoulders. The thick bars pin you to the fanned walls surrounding the center console, which is now lit and working. Undecipherable runes stream across the consoles spherical screen, bathing the dark inside of Drop Pod #7's interior in green.
Brother-Sergeant Trojus' arm moves up to the side of the side of the helmet. You can hear his gruff voice over the SquadVox.
"Devastator Squad Trojus to Star of Sages Launch Bay. We are ready for drop."
"Acknowledged," a Servitor responded in the creatures' flat, mechanical and expressionless tone, "Commencing Orbital Drop Pod Rapid Insertion Pre-Launch protocol." Stand by."
There was a pause, followed by the monstrous noise of launch bay doors grinding open.
"Launch bay doors open. Drop Pod Rapid Insertion Launch commencing."
You hear the click of the clamp connecting the Pod to the ship disengage, and all goes quiet again.
Although you cannot see it, you know that the massive Battle Barge Star of Sages is rapidly shrinking as you approach the planet below.
    The Golden Sons have come.

    >Better hold on...
    >Also, look in the "About Marine Quest" topic if you haven't already.

Captain Kradious' briefing still echoes through your mind as your pod plummets into the planet's atmosphere.
"Brothers, we are dropping in on the planet Ocenia of the Cenarius Sector. As of two Terran days ago, this planet had come under attack by the vile Eldar of the Beil-tan Craftworld. The Planetary Defense Forces stationed on the planet's moon also claim to have been attacked by Orks, but as of now this has not been proven. Several Scout squads have been dispatched to investigate, regardless.
We will be landing on the outskirts of Hive Imil, where the enemy has already begun their attack. As is the nature of the tricksy Xenos, we do not know why they have chosen this Hive, on this planet. But rest assured, that all we need to know is that they have encroached on Humanity's worlds and slaughtered it people, and that they must be exterminated with all haste and prejudice..."

Your flashback is interupted as the Drop Pod crashes onto the surface of Ocenia with enough force to liquify the innards of a normal Human. The restraints lift off of your body.
You wait for the Pod's doors to explode open. But they do not.
"What is going on?" Asks Daniel.
Sergeant Trojus twists his head towards the center console.
"I'm not..." Trojus suddenly pulls back into his restraints, "Hold on!" he screams as the pod begins to tilt.

Your world suddenly becomes a terrifying scene of screeching metal, crunching rock, flailing limbs and the scream of your brothers. Out of all of this, you are still able to feel your stomach flip with the once familiar feeling of weightlessness. The sounds of tourtured metal cease for a moment.
And then gravity returns to you and the pod. An impact hits you with enough force to rip you from your restraints and send you flying. You see grey sky and taste blood, before blacking out.

You see the weeping from of your mother, and the sad yet proud look on your fathers face as you look back at them for the very last time, before you were taken away to become one of the Emperor's Angels of Death...

A strong hand grips your arm and yanks you back into consciousness. You stand up, your legs shaky. The hand belongs to Brother Sergeant Trojus, who you can see is limping. His helmet is missing, his brow is covered in blood and dust. Behind and below him you can see the broken remains of what can only be Drop Pod #7.

      >Enter next action_
      ...perhaps you have some questions...?

Ah good good... helps if you have played the DoW games as you can have the perfect voice of a marine in your head.

            >Check for injuries
            >Locate bros

You check yourself to see if you are injured. Aside from a few dislocated joints, a bruised forehead, and a bloodied tongue, you seem to be fine.

"Brother Brutus is dead," Trojus spits through shattered teeth, "and we haven't yet found Arthurios."
He turns around. You look over him to see your remaining brothers pulling themselves from the Drop Pod's wreckage. "We've all sustained injuries - my own leg is broken. But the Eldar will still find us vengeful opponents."
He turns back to you. "Damnable Xenos! They must have scrambled our landing coordinates. Emperor's Teeth, it's a wonder any of us survived the crash at all!"

            >You now have a choice. With Brutus dead, you now have a spare Heavy Bolter. Do you want to exchange your own Bolter and grenades for the Heavy Bolter, or keep your current gear?

Might be safest to keep some grenades with you.

              Keep current gear!

                >Keep current gear

You walk down the small hill of gravel you were standing on and back to the ruined remains of your Drop Pod. You reach into it's crumpled body and retreive your Bolter and Frag Grenades. As your Ceramite gauntlet grips the handle of the blessed weapon, your ammo counter once again returns to 25 - a full magazine.
Now armed, you return to your squad at the top of the hill. Brother Daniel is now equiped with Brutus' Heavy Bolter.

A small icon blinks at you from your HUD. Communications have been re-established!

                >Maps are now avialable upon request.
