iPad

Great. What's the point? It's useless to those who have both a phone and a laptop. I see it as fairly pointless becuase I dont know who their target market where when putting htis into development, aside from current mac-fanatics. It will never be as efficient as a purpose built graphics tablet, it has far too few features to be as versatile as a laptop and is too big to replace an iPhone.
So what exactly were apple thinking when they created this? "Lets make the iphone bigger"?
Apple, I am dissappoint.

Don't like the iPod touch or iPhone, I like buttons on my phone, call me old fashioned, and I don't care enough about computers but if I had to choose I'd pick a PC mostly because I only see MAC's worthwhile if you have anything to do with media.
My mum just bought a Kindel and I don't think she's kicking herself because Apple just released the iTampon.

It does look sleek, but it's nothing more than a huge iPod Touch or iPhone. Get one of those two if you want a PDA.

I still don't approve of touch-screen only devices, but whatever.

And as for reading literature? Just make your text bigger on the ipod screen. Find a decent app that will do that for you. Personally I use the 'air sharing' app on my ipod touch, and it works wonderfully. Every so often I run into formatting errors, but those are mainly my fault.
Bottom line: who the f*ck in Apple's huge ass company approved of this project anyways? Were they not thinking the whole time they were making it that "Huh, this is really just a knock off of what we've already made?" Maybe the guy who presented it had a boston accent, like GL said. :joy:

Also, my cell phone plan expires in June, and I would like to have a 4G iPhone ready for me. IS THIS TOO MUCH TO ASK STEVE?!

Because I don't want to have to go through the hassle of maintaining a bunch of cheaply made, piece of crap Dells. Because that's what we'd be getting instead.
Besides that, the Total Cost of Ownership for Macs is routinely less than it is for PC's, because you almost never have to replace parts.
And being an educational facility, we get discounts. So a 23" iMac with a 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo will cost us about $900, instead of $1200.
Your kind of thinking is what's caused previous network admins in our school so much strife. >:joy:

Apple doesn't usually change the prices of their products after their initial launch, so I'd be a little surprised if they did change them.
Right now I'm just waiting for the iMac's to get the Core i5/7 treatment across the line before it comes time for my school to order new computers for the computer lab.

The low and high end are similar, but the 15's got bumped from around 1500 to around 1800.

The iPad isn't a must-have device even for geeks. A mobile phone and a laptop are higher up on people's wish list, but if like me you have money to burn and like shiny new gadgets, then it's worth picking up. I mainly plan on using it as an eBook reader to read on my way to work or at work, and also for reading manga and watching anime whilst I'm out and about.
I also use an iPhone and a 15" MacBook Pro, though I'm pretty new to the world of overpriced Apple products and still learning OS X. Planning to pick up a quad-core iMac to sit next to my gaming PC once I finish decorating my room.
I think the iPad isn't going to be for most people but after sitting on the fence about this device since launch I finally decided I was willing to part with the cash to have the option of carrying something that's better than my iPhone but not as useful as my MBP on days I CBA lugging the laptop around.
