The later would be nicer, but it makes sence to keep it as simple as possible.

for as far as the big town/small town question goes, I really don't know, we'll have to look into that later. Also, we have yet to see which is the most suitable. It is likely we're going to test that with a public beta version. It mostly depends on how many people are going to play this game.
Max and I also talked a little about letting players in on the design process, but I can't tell you more on this subject at this moment. Just keep checking the GSW website for news.
Take care,

Oh, I see someone is a little curious, well, I can tell you what they're for, but that would kinda spoil a few things. Let me just give you something to work with, it is just an example, but should get you going: better shoes lets your character run faster...
Take care,

Its fine if you say no, its just, at the FE Battle Realm forum you can download a FE map editor (a...revised Advance Wars program) and its quite interesting to create your own places.

I'm going to direct you to a piece of text in my first reply in this topic:

would be great.
Maybe not exactly "in on it" but the beta players offer suggestions that are actually used.
Anyways, we should stop bothering AveneR about this and just wait a little while longer.

It might be an idea to reconstruct the town every, like, few months or something, to add some variety .
That brings up another question, is it possible for you guys to chage things whenever you want? Like, add a building, close buildings, make a fence, remove trees, add npc's or whatever whenever the inspiration hit you, or would it be far too time consuming? That could possibly add some interesting scenarios, even if it only for variety's sake...

I pretty much wanted to keep this a bit of a surprise, but then again, it's probably more interesting to tell you guys, so you can come up with some cool ideas.
The answer is.. yes.
We are in fact able to change anything, anywhere. We decided to take a server-side approach of things almost from the beginning. That basically means that all the actual map and player data is stored on the server instead of on your own PC. That way, whenever you change to a different environment/field, the new map is instantly loaded from the server.
So you see, we just have to edit those maps on the server to change something. Things like opening/closing doors, removing/adding objects or NPCs etc. is all possible.
Ok, in return, you've got to give us some neat ideas to work with
Take care,

Maybe a background music. I don't think getting it to change with the areas is easy, though. I don't know, Vale's music really bugged me after a while.
Ohh! I've got one. You could create a temple or four to represent the elements. I think using the statues surrrounding the aerie's and perhaps putting a few djinni sprites here and there.
Also, in my previous post I didn't mean that members could give u maps. I just meant we could fiddle around with it. I don't know, its your choice. :P

Java, C? C++????
As for ideas and I said it earlier..... :)
Maybe hide Djinn around town with puzzles and they give you money upgrades? bigger wallet? And a level up function so u can do better things etc...

It would be good if we could design our own houses/towns/maps and then send the files or whatever into max/avener, and then they review them and if they are good enough, they put them on the game. Then you could have like, a hall of fame for all the best map designers.

Agatio and Teblor Tribe: As I recently posted in another thread, allowing people to design and have their own houses/rooms has been an idea of ours since almost the beginning of the project. However, it is most likely that this feature will not be incorporated until after the initial release.

Thumbs up for you
Back to topic...
So actually you have a house for yourself
Can you add furniture yes/ no / not sure
Are there gonna be anything else in the game except interaction and mini-games (djinn or something) yes/no/not sure

Posted 09 August 2004 - 05:42 PM
No, there will not be much more in the game at first except "interaction and mini-games." If you want some kind of huge game go play a real MMORPG. We are making GSW so that people in the community can have fun together and interact.

And are there any waterfalls or something like that???
Why don't you copy Isaac's original town from Golden Sun 1 with the map editor???
