Budokai was okay. The fighting mechanics were a little sloppy, slow and hard. I wouldn't say that it sucked balls, but it did bring some entertainment value and a little more of a challenge. So what if I'm a sucker for DBZ; that still doesn't prove that game totally dropped in actual value.

And despite X Play finding it lame, this game should've been given a chance to get tuned-up a lot more. And besides, all those other fighting games are difficult themselves. :lol:

I admit, though. It was one of the only DBZ games to remain true to the series even down to the dialogue (well...close...).

DBZ Budokai had bad fighting, yes, but for those who didnt know the storyline it had great cinematics. Buddokai 2 was completely opposite. Good fighting, bad cinematic. Budokai 3 should be better than the 2 combined.

Yeah it was really really crappy. There was no cutscenes at all. Just still pictures that talked, like in the GBA games, only more disgraceful because it is on ps2.

I didnt like this game at all. I dont like anyway DBZ anyway so it is maybe clear that i dont like the game. I hope budokai 2 is better.

You mean Budokai 3? Budokai 2 is out and apparently it's horrible. The only good thing about Budokai 2 is that there are some more characters and moves.

Don't waste your time with it; I haven't played it either, but I've looked into it, and it's waaaaaaaaaayyyy more screwed up than the first.

Only the storymode is screwed. The intro is waaaay better, the fighting has better moves (like super spirit bomb, ultimate kamehameha, dr gero's perpetual energy) and then there are the minigames in babidis spaceship, and the thing with hercules that you can do.

It's true there are many more characters and moves, but the Story Mode is the life of the game.

I think I might have stated it already, but I think Budokai 3 is doing all the movies that came out in the US (History of Trunks, Bardock: Father of Goku, the Cooler Saga, etc.).

What bothers me the most is so many of Goku's capsules are transformation ones. So if you wanna' customize him so that he can become SS, you only have enough room for 3 other capsules (and on top of that, Goku can't even use the Spirit Bomb as a SS! Does that even make sense?!).

Have you ever tried this: Play Budokai for about half hour then play SC2 after. It is so diffrent.

ever hear of Breakthrough? if you get all the dragonballs in DBZ B1, you make a wish to the eternal dragon. he randomly lists three names of fighters you have available. pick one. you get a capsule for that character only called breakthrough. it gives them all of there powers in one capsule, just no items. and it takes up all seven slots. i didn't get it for frezia, because i put frieza's space ship on him.

Guess what? Budokai 3 is gonna have dragonballl gt in it! I'm not sure if you guys have seen it yet, but i saw the trailer for it. it looks good. SS4 Goku is in it, Gojeta is, too. There definatley is gonna be some gt in it. keep your eyes peeled!

Ya, I just saw a huge SS Goku 4 on the cover of a magazine, cel-shaded. BUT: the game is called dragonball Z. The Z part. Not GT. Nooooo GT in Z. makes no sense but o well. They better take out that dumb King Kai fist x20. Sucks and it takes up capsule space, and now gokus got another powerup.

Ok iam not that good with the DB stuff I think there was a SS who was stronger then goku and vegeta and he had like greenish hair. I forget his name Brolly or something well he kicked but and if he joins the game and you can play him i might get it.(they better fix the problem when they call out there attacks I can't understand them)

Another problem in Budokai is the fight time. Battles are just too short, especially with the breakthrough capsules (characters are too strong this way). Instead of having rounds (which is much more reasonable) you have select "Fight Again" over and over and over...

We can clearly see that most of Budokai's development was focused in making it look and sound like authentic DBZ (they managed to make those aspects of the game perfect...)

the reason battles are single rounds is because you have 3 bars of life.

Yeah, I know, but sometimes (if you increase the power of a move by setting more than one capsule) a single Kamehameha Wave or Galick Cannon can wipe out one meter.

Galick GUN.... Buster Cannon. But it takes up more space, thats why you dont do it. and its not a cool move, like ultimate spirit bomb or warp kamehameha.

Hmmmm...the capsule said "Cannon", but I know it's Galick Gun.

Anyways, do you have Budokai 2, C. Tycho? Because the Ultimate Spirit Bomb isn't in the first game...

Another thing that bothers me: Why the hell can't you use the Spirit Bomb when Goku's a SS?! That makes absolutly no sense at all! (Budokai 1, mind you).

Ya I got budokai 2. Its frustrating how much different the 2 games are. #1 good storymode bad attacks #2 bad storymode good attacks. True, the spirit bomb as SS2 makes little sense, other than more of a challenge to get a good move.

No, no it's not. It's horrible. All the attacks are just recycled moves, save for a small handful of "special attacks." And also, the whole "custom" thing is pretty clever, but c'mon, I'd rather just have ALL the moves right there at my disposal. And the breakthrough capsules, which grant that, are a pain in the ass to get. Plus, matches end way too quickly - you think 3 life meters would PREVENT that - and they make pretty poor usage out of a fully 3D arena, since you can take one hop to the left or right at a time. I had other stuff to say about this game, but I forgot.

So yeah, it's good as a DBZ game, but really, that's not saying much; it still sucks as a fighter.

It's a good game...but not in the league of games like Final Fantasy, etc. But I disagree that its the worst game ever..at least thats what i THINK you said...*puts on flame shield* Ive seen worse...like Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22...Dragon Ball Z: Legends was the best...even though it was an import..theres a lot of games worse than this series...if ur saying that...*puts on flame shield again* *runs*
