We Latins use a term to refer to you, this term is "gringo" o.o;
Do you think it is insulting or racist to you? o.o;
I really don't think it is x.x Here in Central America we use lots of those terms to talk about people in other countries.
For example,
Nicaragua: Nicas
Guatemala: Chapines
Costa Rica: Ticos
And many others o.o; No one things they are insulting, but I was just wondering if "gringos" think that being called a "gringo" is insulting o.o;
[EDIT] *dies* Invision is stupid for not letting a normal user fix the title D: Fixsh it, pleashe? D:

As for the origin of the word I've heard diffrerent versions @.@;;
My dad says that Mexican people made up the word cause of the U.S. people that they heard singing a song that said something like "Green go the hills..."
Gringo is pronounced "Green-go" n.n;;;
The other version is about....green coats @.@; Although I could never heard the whole story x.x;;

Aussie isn't insulting, but I can think of plenty on bad names to call other people of different races, none of which I have ever used.
EDIT: I love ****ney rhyme, it is so funny! (I am British, but live in the US by the way.)

It's set like that sheba.
Here, Gringo is meant "white Boy" from mexicans in my school, I know them in person, and Mexicans were the originals in spanish other than Spain. In Spain, Mexico, and some other country, Gringo means White Boy. Other Countries differ, so, in a since FD28 is right. All the hispanics in my school are racist against whites, well, the guys that is.
Words racist in Texas -
Gringo, meaning "White boy" Racist towards Caucasians.
Wetback, very Racist as well, meaning an illegal hispanic who crossed the Rio Grande.
Um, this one you all know, because it is VERY racist when used by a white person. I won't post it though. Starts with an "N" and is a cuss word.
Yankie - WE all know this, a US northerner.
Um, Texas has many more racist terms, but it's very bad to post them here.
Aussie is not used as a racist comment here either, i have heard Australians go around and say that to each other (in Houston)
