This newpost is dedicated to the public server test next week. As you all know, GSW is going to be launched on Monday the 6th of September. But, and this is where the disappointment is probably going to set in, it's available for a limited time period only.

The goal is mainly to determine whether the server is able to handle the amount of traffic and to check how you are all going to respond to the game. So, basically, you're all going to be first-hand testers. It will be the first time the game actually has to process large amounts of data so it's pretty exciting for us too.

If you are going to play the game next week, let me remind you of the fact that we need information from you in order to make it better. This means posting bug reports, ideas and stuff like that on the forum is going to really help us out a lot.

The GSW version going on-line next week will have the following key features implemented. You can:

- Chat with other people in the same room.
- Enter any houses with unlocked doors.
- Join the discussions at the Chat-House.
- Store items in your personal inventory.
- Use items on the field and from your inventory.
- Trade items with another user in the same room.
- Use command functions [moderators only]
- Start a mini-game.
- Win prizemoney during mini-games.
- Buy items at various shops.

I might have even missed one or two features, but you get the point. One final note about the testversion: the progression made in the item and mini-game department is not all that great, so don't expect a lot of those during the testing period.

Ok, to sum things up a little, the GSW public server test is going to be on-line until Sunday the 12th of September, starting next Monday. After the testing period, we'll look at what went wrong and fix any bugs you guys encountered. Expect it to go on-line again at the end of this month.

It depends if GSW is run off the server or we download it. If it is download then the only things that get sent to the server, are just all the character position changes, what people are doing and chat text.

But, all that is still a lot of information to process.

Don't forget everyone that this is the first time it's gone public, so it might screw up with some bugs they didn't think of.

How long are you planning on making this public test? 1 week? 3 days?

it'l be in the middle of the night on Monday when it's opened cause i'm aprosimately 11 hours ahead of America :\. i hope i don't get too much homework for tuesday night...

I just thought of something, timezones will screw up the whole comunity thing. Divide the amount of active people on this forum by 4 and that will be about how many people will be using at once, maximum...

I don't really mind about the timezone issue, I'm exact GMT time but I still manage to tlk to ppl who live on the west coast, but as soon as school starts, Fridays, Saturdays and sundays will really only be the time for me.

Neon, while that may be a problem, we aren't really concerned. AveneR and I are 6 hours apart (I live in America, he lives in the Netherlands), so we are used to the time delay and we still communicate almost everyday. Once GSW gets popular there should be people on it at almost any time of day.

well i am glad it is gonna work and you that there isn't more waiting but that kinda stinks that we have wait the rest of the month to play it again. will we be able to keep our registration?

I presume our registration's will remain in the database unaffected. I manage to talk to people on MSN from all over the world, so it shouldn't really be a problem.

I'm probably going to be the one uploading the game to the server and making sure everything works. Now, let's see what my schedule looks like: I'll be off to work from 8:00 [08:00] in the morning until about 6 or 7 PM [19:00].
After I get home, I'm going to eat dinner and see if I can get this thing on-line. That will be somewhere around 8:30 PM [20:30].

Note that the above times are GMT +1 which means the game is probably available for download around 1:00 or 2:00 PM for US citizens. Whew, I wish they'd remove timezones :P

San Fransisco is in pacific time zone which is -8 GMT If you do the math thats means it will actually be available around 11:30 AM for you. For me it would be around 2:30 PM since I live in eastern time zone (-5 GMT)
