Anybody else think there are way too many pinned topics there?

I think it'd be alot easier to post ONE pinned topic that links to ALL the official topics. Much better option, and that way we don't need to scroll down just to get to a regular topic.

Yes, I also noticed. Some are needed (final fantasy, pokemon, fire emblem - definately!). But some others aren't like SSBM, tales of symphonia. I agree with you meglo.

Please don't edit my posts without a valid reason, especially since you posted right below me, you could have quoted you know.

You can't have One Pinned-Topic with every game in it. It would be confusing and lead to spam.

Having each major game in it's own pinned topic leaves a lot less garbage topics and more room for actual discussion. If you make a new topic and it gains enough posts, we can pin it. I am thinking of de-pinning some topics if they don't get more posts soon. Such as KH. It only has 25 posts and isn't active, however, KH topics will appear more often if I depin it, so it's best to leave them.

It's easier on the mods, and it's better for you.

I think pokemon and FF should remaind pinned as they both have 10+ games to their name. Others like ssbm (one game) and fire emblem may be unpinned, but FE had 13 topics about it at 1 stage, plus it has 800+ posts in it.

No, no- You keep each of the official topics for individual games- you just unpin them, and pin a different, new topic that has links to all the official topics so people won't have a good exuse for not using them, even though they are not pinned anymore.

...That does seem to be better... Fine, I'll do it, but I'll leave this topic open for further discussion.

I agree with Meglo MW, so if you haven't already done that then I suggest one of us should do that soon.

It's been done. But has anyone else noticed since the arrival of the 2 latest moderators, there has been a large increase in the number of pinned topics? (games forum, entertainment forums, spam forum)

That's because they don't know the difference between real important topics and... above-fun spam topics.

Agreed, sopmething should only be pinned if it is a very important topic (ranks, spam warning, advertising etc.) or the av and sig ratings, as they have been around since the forum started.

At the board I help moderate our policy is to only have five pinned topics per individual forum to avoid cluttering it up. I think pinned topics are fine when needed, but if you have so many that the majority of topics on the front page are pinned and you need to scroll down, I don't think that's necessary.

I am going to close this topic because we are moving off the original subject, and also that we are moving into uncomfortable waters with subjective critisicm of the moderators. I am in the midst of implementing new moderation policies, the first one was announced today to the moderators, with more in the coming days, so I ask people to be patient as I implement some tactical changes.
