Gimli: Right click the taskbar and unselect "lock the taskbar". Then you can drag it to the top, right or left.

Y'know, Microsoft aught to make their Electric Blue theme available for ever version of Windows XP, so the people that don't use the Tablet or Media Center Editions can have it without installing it manually. Regardless of that rather minor annoyance, it's about time Microsoft released a decent look for Windows. Classic is bland and Luna (in all three colors, but less so with Sliver) is ugly. As for Royale... well, let's just say Windows is long overdue for a nice look and Royale embraces that role.

Anyhow, without further ado:

Gotta love Photoshop! It goes well with the eye-candy theme, no?
Check out the Taskbar's sexy new look. Rrrrow.
There's nothing wrong with the Start Menu - I just censored the name.

And unlike Agatio's Aero-like look from a page or two back, this is an official MS theme and requires no clucky 3rd-party software or Longhorn conversion pack or whatever. Yes, that means you can get it easily, free of charge, and be certain that Royale will be stable in any condition that Luna remains stable in.

It's not just a toolbar, but rather a whole theme, thank you very much.

It looks good with your desktop (well, it looks good, period), but the cyan titlebar text doesn't work, IMO. There's also a look that came with Whistler (the WinXP early beta) that got cut from the release. Fortunately, someone ported it, calling it Watercolor. Unfortunately, Windows doesn't accept themes not signed by Microsoft. Fortunately, there are patchers that alter the uxtheme.dll file to accept 3rd-party themes.

This blog page has all the links to the files you'd need to install it and what a window with Watercolor would look like. It's an excellent theme for business workstations, IMO.

That's an actual screensaver running in the background. Specifically, it's a Windows port of Apple's Flurry screensaver. It's nice to have a colorful whispy thingy dancing around on my desktop. My theme is otherwise unchanged.

Well, if any of you are wondering, the operating system of that laptop is Windows 2000.

EDIT: Oh yeah, just took another desktop screenshot. As you can see, I changed the button look so that they look cool. Also, I edited the font back to Tahoma for veiwing Windows. I also re-organized the desktop.

As you can see on mine (probably) I have changed all the default fonts (only to Arial for the moment) changed the whole colour scheme from Blue to green, the background of windows from white to light green, and the background. Currently, I'm looking for some new icons.

Well, I didn't find that, but I did find a skin I liked that was based on the MacOSX Panther's theme. (though, it looked weird as well)

Okay, I just made a major change in my desktop appearance.

I got a skin I really like thats called "iSkin" that I got via a special skin program called WindowBlinds. Apparently, it resembles the mac's layout, and it is very nice IMO (but unfortunately, my brother doesn't like it). Screenshot in attachment.

I just got this new wallpaper from Atlus' website. I say, the skin (Carbon Sapphire XP) fits in really well with the wallpaper, though it doesn't look all that good when using Windows Explorer.

Save it as a jpeg. That way, the file size is like 10 times smaller and you wont have to shrink the picture down so small.

d00d!! HOLY SHIZZLE!! THAT GUY'S GOOD!!..................anyway, I don't know how to save as jpeg. I'm fairly computer literate, but pretty much the first time I've ever heard the term was here :P

1. Press prtscreen when looking at your background.

2. Open Microsoft paint. Press "Ctrl + V" or right click and click paste.

3. Go to file > Save as, then choose a file name.
- Under "Save as type:" select: JPEG(*.JPG;*.JPEG;*.JPE;*.JIFF;)

4. Click "Save"

5. Go to www.imageshack.us

6. Click "Browse", then search your MyPictures folder (or whereever you saved it) for the picture, and click ok

7. Back on imageshack, click "Upload"

8. Wait until it uploads it.

9. When it has uploaded, it shows a lot of different urls for different ways of displaying the images. Highlight the "Direct image" url.

10. You know how to post an image right?

My school computers are Linux. It's kind of hard getting used to the layout. Its layout's like the way it is in Nick's screenshot, so yeah. It looks very well organized and streamlined, though.

It's the Yahoo Widget Engine, but like LM said, don't get it unless you're running a good processor speed and you have enough RAM. Actually, all of the stuff on my desktop that I use from the engine shouldn't be too much trouble to run. They're all mostly stationary.
